Howard is off for President's day today. In the past they've done 2 live shows after President's day off but I'm not sure what Howard's new schedule is. Here are links to my archives for what they played today:
Today's show was over around 10:55am. There was no Wrap Up Show today.
So Howard is off all week again. Two weeks in February. This is new. They're playing various segments from the past few years during this vacation special. Here are links to my archives for what they played today:
Today's show was over around 11:05am.
Jon asked Rahsaan if he watched the Grammys last night. Rahsaan said he did but it was on a plane. He said the flight lasted longer than the Grammys but he's glad they did. He said you'd think it would put him to sleep but it didn't. Jon said he fell asleep before they got to the Johnny Depp thing. Jon and Rahsaan talked about some of the performances on the show and what they thought of all of that.
Jon said he wants to talk about Bill Murray for a second. He said he couldn't believe it when he was in. He said Bill has talked to Howard twice and he gives a detailed well thought out interview. He said once you get him he's able to talk about so much. Jon said he's one of the funniest actors of all time to him. Rahsaan said he's never seen Groundhog Day so it was another educational interview for him. He said he learned that he's a very accomplished man. He said he's never seen Caddyshack either. Jon said they have to get him out of the room.
Jon asked Rahsaan about the Lady Gaga Bowie thing on the Grammys. Rahsaan said she's a weirdo but he doesn't know much about Bowie's music. Jon said he thinks the mistake they made was having her do six or seven different songs. He said it would have been much more moving is she hadn't done that. They spent a little more time talking about that and then went to break.

Jon said Bill has written a book about his friend Leonard Nimoy (''Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship with a Remarkable Man''). Bill said he'd like to know what friendship means to Jon. Jon gave an explanation for it and then Bill told Jon what's going to happen when he loses his job there. He said he's going to end up in some other town in New York and he'll make friends there and then move somewhere else and succeed downward.
Jon asked Bill about being friends with the cast of Star Trek and how they got together when they were making movies. Bill said that he and Leonard were pushed into each other's orbit. He said when the series went away they went their own ways but then they made a movie. He said they were back in each other's lives. He said they teamed up and they were a team suddenly. He said they were waging the war that actors do.
Jon said in the book Bill talks about being jealous of Leonard for getting so much attention. Bill said that it did enter his mind that his character might be overshadowed by Spock. He said that he describes that in the book which is called what again? Jon gave him a plug for ''Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship with a Remarkable Man''.
Jon said that Howard had to battle throughout his career to do what he did. He said that Bill had to stick to his guns and he writes about how Leonard walked out once and Roddenberry wanted to keep him on set. He said Leonard fought the fight and Bill has respect for that. Bill said that Leonard stuck to his principles and he does admire him for that. Jon asked if Bill feels he's lost out on any deals because he has stuck to his principles. Bill said he doesn't know about that. He said that this is happening in the election now. He said the candidates are sticking to their principles and this is a confusing metaphor. He said that's what life is all about. He said we're negotiating our lives all the time.
Jon asked Bill about his relationship with George Takei. Bill said that he really doesn't know who George is. He said 50 years ago he worked with a guy who came in every so often and said hi and goodbye. He said in that 50 years George has denigrated his name. He said he's not sure how he holds a grudge for 50 years. He said whatever he did he's sorry for it. He said he's not sure how he can hold on to anything and keep saying bad things about a guy. He said he really doesn't know George that well. He said what George says is gibberish. He said he really doesn't know him. He said you'd have to introduce him if he saw him. He said he doesn't know the mother fucker.
Jon said they went their separate ways after Star Trek. Bill said he went his way and he has no idea where George went. He said he doesn't know who George is and he swears to god to that. He said that their cells change every 7 years. He said in 50 years he's changed 4 years. Jon said it's more like 7. Bill said George should have gotten a hold of him after he changed once. Jon asked what his message to George is. Bill said ''Fuck off!'' They went to break after that.

Jon said they talk a lot about Howard doing this for a long time and being able to stay relevant. He said Bill has done that in his career. He asked if they can draw parallels in their careers. He said Bill is good on the show because he's willing to do so much. Bill said Howard works on different rules than the celebrity. He said Howard can say fuck and shit with abandon but the guest can't do that. He said they say other things like shoot. Bill said he never says fuck and shit himself. They spent a little more time talking about Howard and his interviewing ability.
Jon said they seem to have a mutual respect for each other. Bill said Howard has a heart that he rarely shows. He said you see it glimmer every so often. He said he looks the same after all these years but that's because of the hair. He said he seems to be showing his inside more than ever though. He said that he's held up a shield for a long period of time. He said he's beginning to lower his shield and put the sword away so he can work with a dagger. Bill said he thinks people put up a shield and George Takei is one who does that. He said he had to hide for so long and he's had to hide so long that he's in essence still hiding. He said there must be a wonderful person beneath that exterior. Jon said he thinks he's a fantastic guy. Bill said he can't imagine that after all he's done to him. He said there is something there about him that he's holding on to. He said it can't be him. Jon wanted to talk more about that but Bill said he doesn't want to talk about George. Then he spent another minute talking about George. He said he doesn't want to be a part of that nonsense.
Jon said he wishes they could keep talking but they have to wrap up. Bill said he's so glad. Jon got in some plugs and ended the show around 11:45am.
Howard is off all week again. They're playing various segments from the past few years during this vacation special. Here's what they played today:
Today's show was over around 11:05am.
Jon talked to Bob about the first concert he saw which was Led Zeppelin just like Gary's first concert. They spent a few minutes going into the details of going to those concerts.
Jon said Gary was out in L.A. for Grammy week. Gary said he went to see Adele and she's amazing. He said that she is an unbelievable performer. He said she's just at one with the audience. He said it's a rarity for someone to stand up there and sing like she does. Gary said this was really special. He said he saw other female performers this weekend and they weren't very good. He won't say who they were. Gary said that Kat Dennings is dating Josh Grobin and it turns out that they're big fans. He said he saw Michael Keaton and Keifer Sutherland out but he didn't go up to talk to them. Jon said Gary could have gone up to them. Gary said he could have but Kat and Josh were easy to get to and they all went up to each other. Gary said he talked to Robert Kraft at one party. He said that he asked him to take a picture of him with Jane Fonda too. He said he saw Julie Chen and said that ''we're all good'' and he knew what she was talking about. Jon said that he must have thought it might not go well. Gary said she smiled from across the room so he knew they were all good.
Gary said he ran the L.A. Marathon for a mile and a half. He said he jumped in and just ran for about a mile and a half or two miles. He said then he ran back. He said they ran right by his hotel. He said he took some water and pretzels too. He said no one seemed to care that he just jumped right in. Jon said that's crazy. Gary said it was crazy. He said he was being cheered on with everyone else. Gary said he ran back on the sidewalk. He said he thought he'd get a Baba Booey from someone but he didn't get any. They went to break after that.
Jon took a call from a guy who said they had a bit about baking tapes yesterday and he wondered what that was about. Gary said in the old days they taped the show on cassette. He said the tapes would break down over time and if you baked them they would come back long enough to get them off tape on to some other format. Gary said they had these weird ovens they had to bake the tapes in and they were all over the studio. Jon said Gary has taken quite a few bullets for people on the show. He asked if anyone else is taking them for him. Gary said no one has ever done that for him. Jon said Gary is in charge so that comes with the territory. Gary said there is no forgiveness in that place. He said they'll throw you under the bus no problem.
Jon asked Bob if he feels sympathy for Gary. Bob said he does. He said that if he unfriends Howard then he's going to take a beating. Bob said he doesn't do Facebook himself. He said he does Twitter but that's mostly for work. He said you can get a lot of information that way. Jon asked Gary if he does that. Gary said he does use it for a lot of news stuff. He said the personal stuff he doesn't even check that much. He said he found out about Paul McCartney being kept out of a party. He said he thought Paul handled it very well. He said that he said to Beck ''Maybe we need another hit.''
Jon said one of the segments that played today was one of the first Jimmy Kimmel parties that Howard went to. He said they'll talk more about that after the break.

Jon took a call from a guy who said that was the best Shatner interview ever. He said he has to agree with Shatner about not knowing George that well. He asked Gary if he's still friendly with the guy who he worked with at the store where they had the Shvoogie button. Gary said that George and Shatner were more connected than that. He said they worked on more than just 3 seasons of the TV show. He said they are connected. Jon said that Kirk is all over the movies and Sulu isn't in every scene. Gary said it's not like they didn't see each other in 50 years. Jon said that he and Gary are going to stay in touch after the show ends but others he won't. He said it's not malicious. Gary said he thinks Shatner is being disingenuous and maybe he just didn't want to know him. Jon said that you can catch the interview On Demand.
Jon took a call from a guy who said he wants to talk about the weight problem in the office. He asked if there's still a problem and who the highest weight is. Gary said there are people like Jason who are up there. He said Jon could stand to lose some weight but he's not out of control. He said Benjy has gotten thin and he doesn't like that. He said Richard is skinny. He said JD is chubby but not fat. Jon said he thinks Richard's weight fluctuates. Gary said he's been thin forever. He said he runs a lot and uses an app to keep track of what he's losing. Jon said that there will always be a problem back there because Howard likes to talk about it. He said that even Jason isn't in High Pitch Eric territory.
Gary said they found that when people come to intern they take a photo. He said they found Jason's and he had a neck back then. He said he hasn't seen that in a while.
Jon took a call from a guy from Canada who said it's a great day for Canadians on the Wrap Up Show. He asked where he thinks the best hockey fans are. Bob said that Montreal and Winnipeg are the best places to watch. Bob spent a couple of minutes going through all of that with the guys.
Gary asked Bob who his favorite Wack Packer is. Bob said he'd say Beetlejuice. Gary said he'll be back on soon. Gary asked who he hates the most. Bob said he loves to hate Bobo. He said that he loves when he says he says he invented the ''look and lean'' and he wonders if that's just checking your fucking blind spot.
Jon took a call from a guy who said he got into Howard around the same time as Bob did. He said that he could listen to Big Foot all day. He said he also wanted to give Bob some props. He said he's in the hockey hall of fame. Bob explained that he's not inducted into the hall of fame but he is recognized by it. Jon said that means a lot to him and Gary.
Jon talked to Gary more about the Grammys and what he saw while he was out there. Jon wrapped up and got in some plugs before ending the show. They were done around 11:50am.
Howard is off all week again. They're playing various segments from the past few years during this vacation special. Here are links to my archives for what was played today:
Today's show was over around 10:55am.
Jon asked if Wheeler thinks Ronnie goes too far with his sex tips. Wheeler said he doesn't think so. He said he wants him to go further. He said he replays some of his favorites all the time. Gary said he has a really creepy voice when he does it. Gary said he thinks it's 85 percent Ronnie and 15 percent character. Rahsaan said he thinks Ronnie does some creepy shit at home. Gary said he thinks he has them fooled with that voice he puts on.
Jon let Wheeler get in a plug for his album ''Redneck Shit'' and spent a short time talking about that. Gary said he heard it and he thought it was great. He said his friend Bill Burr turned him on to it. Gary said he listened and wondered if Wheeler has ever had a good relationship. Wheeler said he's had some end and he's the one to blame for them ending the way they do.
Wheeler talked about how they can't get this stuff played on regular radio because of the cursing in the songs. He said they sent K-Rock out in L.A. a bleeped song and they had to re-bleep it because too much of the word was heard. He said that it's just insane how bad it is these days. Gary talked about how he used to argue with Tom Chiusano all the time about what they had to bleep back when they were on K-Rock there in New York.
Jon took a call from a guy who said he likes Wheeler's CD and the quality of the musicianship is amazing. Wheeler and the caller talked about that for a short time. The guys also talked about the Grammy's and how they had to cut out some of the lyrics from the live show. They went to break a short time later.

Jon took a call from a guy who asked who Wheeler thinks the next dead Wack Packer is going to be. Wheeler said he was listening to High Pitch Eric recently and it's hard for him to imagine he won't be the one. Jon said it's always the one you don't suspect though. Gary said the Crackhead Bob thing came as a complete surprise to him. He said he died suddenly. He said he thinks High Pitch Eric is the obvious choice. Wheeler said you'd think he'd be more concerned about his health. He said he can fix what's wrong with him but he won't do it. Jon said that High Pitch Eric has been told that for 20 years and he won't change.
Wheeler brought up who the healthiest Wack Packer might be. They went through the list and said maybe Medicated Pete would be the healthiest. Gary said he thinks it's Tan Mom. Jon said that's a great example.
Jon said he was just reminded that Howard talked about Chris Stapleton a couple weeks ago when he was on Saturday Night Live. Jon said Howard said he liked that performance.
Jon asked Wheeler about liking Eric the Actor and being upset when he died. Wheeler said he misses him more than his grandmother who died a few years ago.
Jon asked if the interest in Eric has gone up since he passed. Gary said he thinks so. He said if Bobo died tomorrow in two years people would have a different vision of him. He said he'd get more love in death than he did in life. Jon said you forget how cantankerous Eric was. Gary said he really was. They spent a little time talking about how every Wack Packer death seems to happen suddenly. Wheeler said he misses Eric every day.
Jon took a call from a guy who was explaining the difference between rednecks and country. Wheeler had an explanation for his music and told the guys a story about his song ''Fuck You Bitch''. Wheeler said he wanted to make sure he was the butt of the joke in his songs. He said that he was the fucking asshole in the song. They went to break a short time later.
Jon brought up how they played the ZZ Top performance today. Wheeler said that was one of the best musical performances he's heard. He said they sound as good as ever.
Jon took a call from a guy who said yesterday Sia was on this week and he got chills from her performance of Chandelier. He asked if it's great to come into work when they have performances like that. Gary said the answer is a resounding yes. Gary said they're excited two weeks before a guest like that comes in. Jon said the favorite part for him is when they're doing a sound check. Jon said you're in awe of just how good they are and what they can do. Jon said they have a lot of stuff going on in the back office until the performance happens. He said then they all stop. Gary said there wasn't a large expectation for Sia when she came in. He said then she starts to sing and they all stop in their tracks. Jon said the best example was Lady Gaga's performance in the studio. He said she won him over. Gary said what made that song was the story she told about it being written about her grandfather.
Wheeler said what's great for the fans is hearing Howard's excitement. He said he doesn't fake it. He said he was so genuinely excited about ZZ Top and how they sounded. He said it gets you excited too. Jon said that's a good point. He said if you listen to the older stuff Howard would get involved and he's stopped with that. He said the performances today are something you can't get anywhere else.
Jon said he wants to talk about the Benjy and Perez Hilton fingering thing. Gary said he can't get that vision out of his head. He described what it looked like that day when they were doing that. Gary said he had to lay on the bed with the two of them and it looks like Perez was fucking the both of them. He said he had Benjy's body jiggling next to his. Wheeler said it's very weird to hear Howard try to stop something but he really wanted that to end. He said there are a lot of levels to that story. He went through some of the stuff that was going on. Gary said that Perez has this apartment as his fuck pad and it was very early in the morning. He said he was just waiting for the police to show up because it sounded like a murder was going on.
Jon got in some plugs for today's Sternthology and wrapped up with Wheeler. They were done around 11:35am.
Howard is off all week again. They're playing various segments from the past few years during this vacation special. Here are links to my archives for what they played today:
Today's show was over around 11:10am.
Gary said they're just assuming that Richard didn't want to do it. He said maybe in his mind it's no big deal and he's just acting like it is. Jon said he thinks Richard is much smarter than he lets on. He said there is some method to his madness. He said he wonders how he did in school. He said he'd bet he was a decent student. Gary said he thinks he is a bright guy. He said he doesn't think they found his Achilles heel yet. Jon said he might not have one. Rahsaan said maybe he won't go full gay. Jon said that Sal is usually the one who pulls back with that.
Gary asked about Richard wanting Ronnie to take a blow job from him and saying that it's not gay if he uses a condom. Gary said maybe they should have a poll about that. Jon said they'll try to get that going. They had that Richard and Ronnie thing up against Scott the Engineer getting fucked by Lexington Steel.
Jon said with the Metallica thing everyone wants to sit in there. He said Howard wants to focus on the interview and he is accommodating with the staff at times. He said with Richard it seems like the opportunity comes up more often. He said Richard has so many favorites so they do come up more often. Gary said if Bruce Springsteen came in the whole staff would be coming up with ways to humiliate him but there's no way he's doing any of that. Gary said he can watch from the monitor and enjoy it. He said it depends on who it is. Jon said the guests are here to talk to Howard and they may not give a fuck about the rest of them.
Jon took a call from a guy who said it has to be Richard blowing Ronnie to win the poll. He said that has to be a sight. Gary said if he's good at it that would be weird. Jon said Ronnie on the receiving end would be weird too. Jon said they may have to do this. Gary said it would be great if Ronnie wasn't able to get going.
The caller asked Jon if he would open a restaurant if someone came to him and put all of his ideas into one. Jon said he would do it. He said that he has looked into doing something like that but he can't put the time into it with this job he has. Jon said he would love to do it. Gary said he'd go in on it with him. Gary said he'd like to do a franchise thing. Gary asked how you make money. Jon said a McDonald's is like 96 percent successful. Jon said he could come up with his own but he'd be getting his food from different fast food places. Gary said they could call it Baba Booey's Burgers. Rahsaan said they could call it McHein's. They went to break a short time later.

Jon took a call from a guy who said they were talking about Ronnie shooting a load on Richard's face and it gets you thinking. He said that Ronnie's girlfriend is hot and it makes you think he might have porn star abilities. He said he might be a sexual savant. Gary said he took it to a whole other level with that. He said the blowing a load on Richard's face isn't going to happen but it sounds funny. Gary said Ronnie does look old next to his girlfriend but he's in pretty good shape for his age. Jon said he is. He said Ronnie talks about his mastery of love and he has a lot of experience going to clubs like Rick's and all of that. He said that he might have porn star abilities.
Gary said they did a bit once where they had a Bukakke queen on the show and they had bottles of mayonnaise to squirt on her. He said they weren't able to get it going so Benjy came running over and shot it all over her and held the bottle by his dick so it looked even more disgusting. They went to break after that.

Jon said the other angle with the poll is Scott the Engineer. Gary asked how you can say that's not gay. Jon said it is. He said he's getting penetrated in his ass. Gary said there's nothing wrong with gay but he's just saying. Gary said he wants to go back and talk about the history of that. Gary went through the story of how that was all happening back in the day. He said it turned around when Scott's son came home from school talking about what he heard about the bit. Gary said that's what changed Scott's mind on the whole thing. Jon said that has to be one of the best moments on the show. Gary said Tom Chiusano used to come in shaking his head about that stuff.
Jon said the other thing that played today was Sal's Makeup Bag. He said Sal has admitted to getting hair plugs and all of this. He said that Sal hates his racoon eyes but is it worth the effort to do this stuff with the makeup. Gary said he doesn't think it is but that's just him. He said someone pulled up a picture of Sal's hair and he thinks that he has been doing something far longer than he admits to.
Gary said the best was when Sal did the bag drop for his makeup. Jon said he's the best. Gary said the best part was when someone handed him the bag and he walked into the studio and Sal tried to bat it out of his hand.
Jon took a call from a guy who asked if they think it's Sal's wife who makes him go through all of this. Gary said he thinks Sal has been like this since he was born. Jon said Sal wants to look good and he's told him that. He said he lived in a tanning bed forever. He said he's all about his appearance. Jon said he gets very defensive about it too. Rahsaan said he won't go through that much effort. He said he doesn't care that much. They spent a little more time on that before wrapping up.
Jon asked Rahsaan for the results of the poll. Rahsaan said it came out the opposite of what they thought. Scott got 56 percent of the votes. Jon got in some plugs for today's Sternthology and ended the show. They were done around 11:40am.
