Howard started the show talking about how much he liked that intro. He asked if Robin has a smoky eye makeup thing today. Robin said she does. Howard said he likes that. Howard said he's sorry she has to look at him. Robin said she likes looking at him. She said she has him pinned on her screen. She said she starts to smile as soon as she sees him. Howard said a lot of people laugh at him when they see him.
Howard said he was watching ''I Am Jazz'' last night. He said her parents are getting annoying to him. He said she wants to move out of the house. Howard said he wanted to move out of the house when he was in high school but his parents wouldn't let him. He said he's not sure who even thinks about moving out at that time. He said he realized his life revolves around Jazz this weekend. Robin said she's not sure how many episodes there are. Howard said he's hoping to get to the end so he has more time.
Howard said Jazz has a boyfriend and she's dating a kid from Philadelphia and she wants to try that vagina out. He said the mother wears these shirts with the shoulders cut out. Robin said that's a new thing they say is a sexy part of a woman to look at so it's the new style. Howard said the mother has like 100 outfits like that. He said he's up to the part where Jazz has gotten her vaginal surgery and she wants to get that thing lubed up and going.
Robin asked if she has examined the things she has to use. Howard said she has. He said she has this thing to put in there to get the thing opened up. He said he's fascinated by it. He said they have to get her labia looking real. He said she has to get something that looks more presentable. He said the don't show it down there but he wishes they did.
Howard said according to his agent he got like 10 billion calls about Rush Limbaugh dying. He said that the press wanted quotes from him. He said he's not sure why just because they're both on radio. He said that he would feel weird coming on the show and saying he's happy the guy is dead. He said he's not going to do that. He said he was tending on Twitter because people were comparing them. He said there's no comparison. He said they don't do the same thing. He said that he and Rush aren't the same. He said that he has a lot of thoughts about Rush.
Howard said he has done this a lot of his life. He said he admires anyone who can command an audience on radio. He said a lot of people have tried talk shows on TV but a lot disappear. He said it's difficult to command an audience. He said mornings are the toughest time of day. He said that's when most people drive to work and that's when the most radios are on. He said if you have a good morning show that dictates how the station is going to do the rest of the day. He said that's what intrigued him about being on in mornings himself. He said that he wanted the station to be dependant on him. He said he wanted someone to need him.
Howard said when he got into radio it was very competitive and a tough job. He said when Rush got on radio and was the guy from 10 to whenever... He said he only heard Rush like 4 times in his life. He said comparing him to Rush was odd to him. He said he's one of these conservative guys who does the show where he talks politics. He said what he does seemed different. He said he does a comedy morning show. He said Rush did a show by himself. He said he read that and they were comparing what Rush did to what he does with a team. He said that if he didn't do what he did in radio Rush wouldn't have had a career. He said he's best on when there's nothing to listen to. He said being on in the morning is a different animal. He said if you want to be the best of all time you have to get on in the morning and see if you can be more engaging and entertaining than the best in the business. He said that's the way it goes.
Howard said he wanted to be on against people like Imus. He said that he had to prove himself. He said you never saw anyone in radio bragging about having the number 1 show at 1pm in the afternoon. He said that's rookie. He said you have to come up against him in the morning to prove yourself. He said Tom Brady proved himself against the greatest. He said that's why he's the greatest now. Howard said morning radio is brutal.
Howard said people were calling him because they consider them the same but there's nothing the same other than being on radio. He said he respects anyone who can get an audience though. He said Rush had that. He said that he never met Rush in all his years on radio though. He said he's anti-social so he never does get out to meet people. He said he didn't go to radio events. He said he knows nothing about the guy. He said he just knew he was on radio and he commanded a huge audience and he respects that. He said hats off to his career.
Howard said the other aspect is his politics. He said the greatest of all time was Bob Grant. He said he was a pioneer of that format. He said he was fantastic. He said Bob would blast the republican party and even praise the democrats at times. He said he had no pigeon holing the guy. He said he was a fully realized human being. He said he liked the guy because he would agree with both sides and that's how he is. He said with Rush he always felt that they got into this area of telling lies. He said Rush would support the republican party no mater what. He said it would be refreshing in his mind if he had been able to go against the party. He said Bob Grant would have asked what the fuck was wrong with Trump for saying ''Don't wear a mask.'' He said that he shouldn't be able to hear you agree with everything a republican has to say. He said it's too one sided. He said get on the air and criticize Ted Cruz or something. He said it was just so one sided that he didn't get it. Howard said it wasn't his thing and it's not something he would listen to. He said he can't get into that whole conspiracy thing. He said Bob grant was a good old fashioned conservative. He said that he didn't just yell that the Democrats suck.
Howard said if you love your audience why would you call the Coronavirus a common cold. He said that's not what he's into. He said he doesn't even recognize the republican party anymore. He said it's crazy what they say now. He said they have these kooky conspiracy theories and stuff now. He said it's kooky to say don't were a mask in a pandemic. He said it's just kooky. He said close to 500,000 people have died from Coronavirus. He asked how you get on radio and say don't wear a mask because you need your freedom.
Howard said the people of Texas are out of power because they privatized the grid and now they're going to take money from the government to help them. He said they have to stop voting in under achievers down there and they'll have power.
Howard said he doesn't blame Rush for the collapse of the Republican party. Robin said some people are blaming him. Howard said they're giving the guy too much power. He said that he's not one of those guys who got on and talked about politics like Bob Grant. He said he wanted to make people laugh and do outrageous things. He said that he'd rather do phony phone calls. He said as far as Rush goes he's saying the same thing he said about him over the years. He said he had the ability to get an audience. He said that he didn't agree with the nonsense and he wasn't a listener of the show. He said he could only take about 10 minutes of it when he did hear the show. He said it was too predictable. Robin said he always stuck with what the party was saying or doing.
Robin said there was the racism thing too. Howard said he came up around the time that Rush was coming up with his act. He said that he started before Rush. He said he was a shitty radio announcer and he tried to get on to entertain people. He said that the scary part is all of these guys dying around him. He said it seems like they're on the conveyor belt. Robin said they must be on it. Howard said it's weird. He said he's sure his fans are going to miss him. He said they wondered who is going to replace Rush. Howard said here are a lot of guys out there and some are good and some are bad at it. He said there's a lot of people who have shows on TV and radio who can replace him. He said they all kind of fill that void. He said certain guys are better at it than others. He said Rush was really good at it. He said you can't take that away from him. He said his fans loved him and the way he approached things. He said they're going to miss him.
Howard said there are a lot of guys that can replace him but he doesn't listen because it's all too predicable. He said that Rush referred to himself as El Rushbo. Howard said his fourth wife got on air and announced his death. He said that his wife Kathryn made the announcement. He said she's going to host his show and take calls about Rush today.
Howard said he'd like to know how they had sex. Robin said she'd like to know what attracted her to him. Howard played some audio from Rush's show. Robin said that song must make Chrissie Hynde crazy that the used her music. Howard said he thinks she dealt with it by using the money she made from it to give to PETA. He said that G. Gordon Liddy had a talk show and he wasn't as big as Rush. He said that's who they should have called instead of him. He said call Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly instead of him. He said when Imus died it was fine to ask him about what he thought. Howard said that Imus took him on and he went to number 28 in the ratings to his number 1. He said Imus had negative ratings at one point. Howard said Rush was smart staying on mid-days. He said that he didn't want to go up against Howard Stern. He said the guy died worth like $600 million.
Howard said Chrissie Hynde took like $100,000 and donated it to PETA with that theme song.
Howard played the clip where Kathryn Limbaugh got on and talked about the death of Rush Limbaugh.
Howard said if you want to know the number one broadcaster of all time you have to get a crew of broadcasters together to give their opinions. He said ask people like Scott Shannon, Rick Dees, Mark Chernoff and guys like that. He said even Elvis Duran. He said that those guys will let you know. He said Elvis Duran would beat Rush in the ratings. He said that's the truth.
Howard said when Jay Leno wanted to prove himself against Letterman he had to compete.
Howard took a call from Jeff Jarvis who said he has a theory that the FCC had not hounded Howard off terrestrial radio then they wouldn't have had Trump as president. He said people would have had someone to listen to other than guys like Rush. He said what they did was left radio to the extremists. He said that and FOX News on TV created the mess we got into. He said that Howard could have saved democracy. Howard said he doesn't believe that Rush is responsible for Donald Trump entirely. He said the whole premise is ridiculous. He said he could have offered some common sense though. He said this was some nut job conspiracy theory stuff.
Jeff asked what terrestrial turned into after he left. Howard said it's nothingness. He said it just fell apart. Howard let Jeff go after that. He said he used to write for TV Guide. He said he's a good writer.
Howard got back to the Kathryn Limbaugh clip where she talked about how much Rush loved his audience. Howard cut it off and said he cherished them so much the told them not to wear masks during a pandemic.
Howard said if he gets cancer he's out of there. He said he's not spending his time on radio. He said that he's going to spend his time in his room crying.
Howard played more audio of Kathryn talking about Rush passing away that morning due to complications from lung cancer. Howard said she's going to get the mother lode because they didn't have any kids. Robin asked if she has any emotion. Howard said he thinks she's out of line on that. He said she has some emotion there. He played more and she was saying that he was the greatest of all time. Howard said he has to disagree with her there. He said he was not the greatest of all time. He said Bob Grant was the greatest in that category of radio guys.
Howard did his Kathryn Limbaugh impression and had her doing ads for his merch and talking about how great he was. He said the reason she talks the way she does is because Rush would lay on top of her when they had sex and her lungs were flattened out.
Howard played more of Kathryn's speech about how great Rush was and how hard he worked. Howard said he guys working hard are the truck drivers who listened to Rush. Kathryn said that Rush was polite and respectful... Howard did more of his impression of her pushing his merch.
Howard said as soon as she finished they went into a montage of Rush and then Rush reading a live commercial. He said that he has to get Beth down there to ask her not to do this. He said he asked her if she would do this and Beth said she would not go on the air like this. He said she thought it would be very difficult to get on the air. Robin said that's what she was just saying. She said if you can talk like this then you're fine.
Howard played the clip of Rush doing his live commercial read. Robin said he sounds like someone speeded him up. Howard said he was hard of hearing from his drug addiction and weak from cancer. Robin asked if she sounded that weak. Howard said no but come on.
Howard said please don't do this kind of thing where he goes into a live commercial unless he does one that sounds like this. He did a Steven Singer commercial where he said he hates Steven Singer because he's alive and he's not.
Howard said this is an air check with Rush where he was ''Jeff Christy'' and introducing a song.
Howard said they say that he wasn't successful in top 40 because he did that impression of a top 40 guy. He said that being a failed top 40 guy is okay with him. He said no one should have to do that. He played more of that old stuff where Rush did his thing when he was starting out. He let that play and talked about how bad it was. He said that they all sound bad doing that kind of radio though.
Howard said this is Rush saying that Osama bin Laden was given up to make Obama look good in office. He played the clip. He said that's the kind of stuff that led to Trump. He said saying stuff like that is what got people to want Trump in office. He said the whole ''what if'' thing is the issue.
Howard said Rush used to say to his audience ''Mega Dittos'' because they were Ditto heads. He said they would go ''Dittos'' and Rush would do Mega Dittos and they picked up on that and started Mega Dildos and Schmega Dildos. Howard played some audio from an old show where he started doing that.
Howard said this is funny. He said in 2016 there was a rumor that he was going to run for Vice President and Jesse Ventura was going to run for President. He said TMZ asked Rush about that. Howard played the clip and Rush said he has no idea who they're talking about. Howard said TMZ found Robin and Robin gave it to him. Howard played the clip of Robin responding to that and giving it to Rush saying that they're entertainers and she's not sure what Rush is.
Howard said down in Florida the Governor is demanding that the flags be put at half staff because of Rush's death.
Howard said he really doesn't have anything profound to say about Rush's death. He said that he never had a differing opinion than his party. He asked how that's possible. Howard said it did blow his mind when Trump gave him the national medal of freedom. Robin said that was payback. She said that he helped Trump out so he gave it to him.
Howard said the two of them wanted to be loved so badly. He said Rush and Donald wanted to be loved so much. He said Rush was motivated by wanting to please his father. He said that he had the same thing going on there. He said that a lot of the act was Rush doing an impression of his father. He said that he knows from that because his father was like that. He said that it was all very definite stuff. He said it was a lot of bluster. He said that might be what motivated him the most. Robin said Rush told a writer that he was the butt of every joke and he had baseballs thrown at him and he was treated horribly by the athletes that played baseball at the time. She said that he never got to be the cool guy and he was sitting there thinking he was smarter than them and one of these days...
Howard said he has nothing profound to say about Rush Limbaugh. He said he had a huge audience and that's not an easy thing to do. He said he has to give him that. He went to break a short time later.

Howard came back and said he remembers buying this album when he was young. He said that guy Sly was an original guy. He sang a little bit of the song as it played.
Howard said he has Drew Barrymore on and she has her own talk show. He said she's been famous all of her life. He said she doesn't know what it's like not to be famous. Drew said she hates that word. She said it's a factual word but she says it's people of note. She said she had some ego condition where you say fame or fans then you are a you know what. She said it was a weird thing she put on herself.
Howard said she looks really good. Drew said thanks and she's really excited to see him. Howard said it's her birthday today. She had her crew there and they were clapping for that. Howard said look at that. Drew said they're super honest too. She said they're very real and don't BS around there. She said they're so genuine.
Howard said Drew is 46. He asked if she feels good about that. He said she's been famous since she was like 6. He sake if she feels like it's youth and she's getting up there. Drew said not at all. She said she never wants to be miserable like people around her. She said that she doesn't worry about the injections and stuff. She said she's never had any work done. Howard said she must judge it though. She said she has personal lines in the sand and she has to figure out what she's wiling to put out there. She said that she grew up in a job where a lot of it was about vanity. Drew said she called bullshit on all of that. She said that led to happiness. She said that she had to learn a lot of harsh lessons on her own. She said she had to be her own parent in a lot of ways. She said she knew that she was going to have to make choices to not fall prey to the bullshit. She said she felt that way at a young age.
Howard said Drew really did have to raise herself. He said he was thinking about her when they were carrying on about the Britney Spears movement. He said there have been a lot of guys out of control and they never get treated like children but women do. He said that she must think it's wrong for Britney's father to be taking over her empire. Drew said she hasn't seen the Britney thing yet so she's not sure what's going on there. She said that she's not sure if anyone really knows. She said that people ask her to talk about it on the show but she hasn't seen the documentary. She said she still may not know all of the details after seeing that. She said she has so much empathy toward people like her and Paris Hilton. She said that she was institutionalized by her mom. She said she's sure that people look on and owner how they have feelings about this stuff. She said that they're just humans and she has a lot of empathy and it's hard to grow up in front of people. She said when you do get to the root of the root and the bud of the bud there's so much relativeness with emotions and feelings. She said she wonders how much that's on par with someone who is living a big life. She said when you get down to the feelings she wonders if they are similar. She said she believes they are. She said that when you strip things away and get to the basics we're all just human beings.
Howard said that no one tried to take control of her money as far as he knows. Drew said they didn't. Howard said it's weird. He said with Britney she just said don't let her father be in control of her money. He said that there's so much wackiness in the world and it seems weird to him that she is in that situation. Drew said she really don't know that much about it so she feels weird pontificating about it. She said she doesn't know Britney but she has liked her and she has pontificated about her. She said you really need to have the armor to deal with what she has to deal with. She said that you have to build that up and you can't let people take that away from you. She said you have to protect yourself. She said she thinks the better foundation you build for yourself the better you'll be able to stand on it. She said armor to her is laughing at life. She said she will laugh at the wrong times but that's her armor. She said she knows how fragile things are but that's her coping mechanism.
Howard said that she mentioned that Paris Hilton was on her show. He said he saw that she was thrown into isolation and Drew said it happened to her. He asked what she was talking about. Drew said that her mom put her in a place that was like a full psychiatric ward. She said she was in this place that would throw you into the padded room if you didn't do the right thing. Drew said that she grew up with the Go Gos and Wendy O. Williams and people like that. She said she would channel that inner riot girl and she would rile up the girls and try to get them going at this rehab place she was in. She said that she would get them riled up and they had children and older people there. She said she was only 13 and she was there for a year and a half. She said that cooled her out. Howard asked if she was diagnosed with anything there. Drew said no she was just out of control. She said she just didn't have any structure in her life and she was stealing her mom's car and things like that. She said she was out of control. She said sometimes she was so angry that she'd go off and get thrown in that room. Howard asked how long it was for because that seems harsh to him. He said that it seems like the same thing as hitting a kid. Drew said it was only for hours at a time. She said they just kept you in there until you calmed down. Howard said it was like a time out. Drew said yeah it was kind of like that. She said it was a mental ward time out. She said they would restrain her in that room though. Howard asked if it was a hand cuff. She said it was. She said they had cuffs or straps behind your back or tie you down to a stretcher.
Drew said she asked herself why this was happening. She said she wondered if she needed this crazy form of structure because things were so screwed up in her world. She said that it took 6-8 months to get there. She said she was so angry she couldn't see straight.
Howard asked if her mother had been more equipped and just sat her down and asked her what was wrong that it could have connected them. Drew said that she thinks after 30 years of therapy and should searching that her mother created a monster and she didn't know what to do with that monster. She said this was her last gasp at getting things right. Howard asked if she talks to her mom now. Drew said she texted her this morning. She said she's glad there is healing there. She said they've been trying to figure things out. She said she told her daughter that she's not her friend, she's her mother and they'll never be friends. She said she really appreciates that. She said she has so much more empathy now. She said she has two girls now and she raises them so much more traditionally and protectively. She said it's much different than her own upbringing. She said that she feels goodness toward her mom. She said she feels understanding and empathy. Drew said that she couldn't let it go on anymore thinking that her mother was upset with her not talking to her. She said she had to let this go. She said that it wasn't doing anything for either of them. She said that she has a sign in her doorway that says Timing isn't everything. She said her mom won't tell her how old she is and she doesn't even know how old her mother is. She said she thinks she's old enough to be at a different place in her life. She said she knows it's possible to change.
Howard asked if she'd let her around her kids. Drew said that she has met her kids. She said that she wanted to let all of that stuff go. She said here are boundaries and distance and a lot of respect there.
Howard said it's very hard to be straight with your mother and that's the most brave thing you can do. He said that if you've been wronged it's hard. He said we want a mother so bad that you'll make excuses for her. He said that she just cut it off and that's just brave. He said he has to hand it to her for that.
Howard said he saw that Drew had her ex-husband Tom Green on her show. He said that's another thing that he's really interested in with her. He said she could have kept it quiet. He said that he admires Tom Green and they hadn't spoken in 15 years. Drew said it was almost 18 years. Howard said he liked that interview. He said he wanted to get down to the nitty gritty though. He said they were both being very nice and they were looking at each other like they were still in love. He said something bad must have gone down. He said they were only married for a year. He said he felt like she was being polite to Tom. He asked what happened there. Drew said that it's just a boring story. She said they were young and stupid. She said that she didn't know how to manage herself. She said she was a woman in the boardroom and a child in the bedroom. She said she could pitch that they were the right people in a meeting but at home she couldn't do that. Howard said she learned how to do that Hollywood thing early on in her life. He said that's not an easy career. He said that what she did was very difficult. Howard said she's very hot and rich and that's what he saw. He said that he wondered why she was with Tom Green. He said he was angry about it. Drew said he's funny and smart. She said that David Letterman and Ted Koppel were her first crushes. She said to this day she just ants to laugh. She said that she didn't have things figured out at the time with Tom.
Howard asked what it was she didn't have figured out. He said she goes home with Tom and what happens. Drew said they just didn't know how to handle a relationship. Howard asked if they fought. Drew said they did but that would lead to some growth or understanding. She said she always knew how to reach out to smart people. She said she never followed idiots. He said that she would seek help from the top level. She said the help was more for her than any relationship she was in. She said she was working on herself and they weren't able to do it so they just walked away from each other. She said they just bailed.
Howard asked why they hadn't spoken for 15 years. Drew said she thinks Tom needed some time. She said it may have been hard for him and that was his coping mechanism. She said she respected that. Howard asked if she reached out to him over the years. Drew said she did and she saw that he didn't want to talk to her so she backed off. Drew said that she called Tom to be on the show and she sent him a video. She said that she said it had been a long time and she wondered if he would come on to help her start this new show. She said that he knows what it's like to be doing that so she thought that he was the right one to do it. She said that she felt it was the right time to ask. She said it couldn't have been sweeter. She said they are at different times in their life and they both have respect. Howard asked if they spoke before they did the interview. Drew said they did.
Howard said the temptation is to talk about crazy stuff. He said that he would have gone there. Drew said that's why she loves Howard. She said he's the most profound journalist alive. She said that he talks about his life past and he's evolved. She said to watch his evolution has been great. She said that she would hear Howard asking her to call into the show when her mom was on and it was scratching at her deepest wound. She said she read his book and he talks about growing as a person. She said that they have never known each other that well but she's intrigued about how he interviews people. She said that people need to hear that big change is possible. She said he's still funny so thank god for that.
Howard said its very hard to change and it took 20 years of therapy just to chip away at that. Drew said she doesn't want to see herself as a figure. She said she wants to be another ant looking down from a high rise. She said she finds that commonality with Howard.
Howard said he wanted to get in on the interview with Tom Green. He said he had questions. Drew said they should do it then. She said he can ask the questions. Howard said he imagines there was an intense passion there when they started dating and he wondered what that was all like and when she realized it can't fucking work. Drew said crazy love burns out. She said she was on a commercial shoot on Friday she was working with this guy Matthew and she was texting with a guy and she wasn't able to deal with it. She said that Matthew told her that he met his man and it was just so easy. She said that's the way it should be. Howard said maybe it should just be fun and good. He said it's that simple. He said if it's not happening then get out. Drew asked if it's that way with Beth. Howard said it is. He said they're just very happy being together. He said he feels very blessed that way. He said that if he hadn't been with a psychiatrist he'd never be able to be in a relationship. Drew said you have to work on your shit. She said if you don't do that then it's not going to be easy.
Howard asked Drew how she's doing with love. He said she looks great. Drew thanked him for that.
Howard asked if she has love now. Drew said she thought that things were going to work for her and her kid's father but that didn't work to. She said they tried everything. She said that she and his family are very close and loving and they have a unity and a union that's hard but they're in a good place. She said they never lost sight of what was important. She said she's there in New York with him and his family but he just got married to another woman who is great and she's happy about that. She said that she's no evil step mother. She said she ants Will to be happy. She said there was no room for the negativity. She said that there is a wall there but it's an honorary wall. She said that it took her down that it didn't work but she's finally through this rebirth and things can get ugly before it re-blooms. She said she has some flowers blooming on her old oak tree. Drew said she feels really good right now. She said she's so happy when other people are happy. She said she's finally just now feeling free.
Howard said this is amazing to him. He said when she gets divorced and puts her love life on hold for her kids he can't imagine what that's like. He said that's fucking huge. He said he's divorced and he had to find someone immediately. He said he wasn't able to be alone. He said he had to put his needs first. He said to put your love life on hold for 5 years is admirable. He said most people can't do that. He said that women also grieve more than men he believes. Drew said he's so right. She said that she was on hold for almost 6 years. She said that they tie themselves down with bricks in a pool and get it all out before coming out of the pool. Howard said that's a difficult thing to do and not just go find another man.
Drew said this might help her freedom boost. She said she wasn't able to put it into words until just recently. She said she had a lot of things to work on and she had to pull her shit together. She said she was eating and drinking and she lost her touch of spirituality. She said she turned to deep spirituality as a teen and she was able to become more of an adult after that. She said she's really exited to get in touch with that teen. She said she watched Howard's Coffee in Cars with Jerry Seinfeld and they talked about Transcendental Meditation in that. She said that she wants to get in touch with that inner voice and she just drowns them out. She said that she has voices telling her to get back to that spirituality and she thinks she can get back into that now. She said she's trying to reopen that chapter in her life. She said that she's so open hearted and open minded. She said she has studied Transcendental Meditation in her life and she is excited to explore it more. She said she meditated this morning and she's going to book her flight to Iowa and go to that meditation center. She asked if Howard has been there. Howard said he hasn't. Robin said she has.
Howard said that Drew talked about breaking her sobriety. He asked what that was. Drew said that she did that in her teen years. She said she drinks here and there now. He said it's about people his age getting thrown into a nursing home without permission. Ronnie said that shit could never fucking happen. Gary said it was a good movie. Ronnie said it wasn't good.
Howard said talk about a waste of time. He said this Will Smith's kid did a movie and it was so bad. He said it was ''Life in a Year'' and it's about this girl who is dying and they had to do everything they wanted to do in life in a year. He said this Cara Delevingne is in it and he turned it off half way. He said he tuned back into it to finish it and he wanted her to die by the end of it. He said don't waste your time with that movie.
Howard said he's embarrassed that he watched it. He said Robin won't last a half hour. Robin said she's going to watch. She said she will curse him if it's bad. Howard told her to stop it.
Howard said then he's reading the credits and it's from the Will and Jada production company. He said that's how they gave the kid a shot. He said the movie was bad. He said it's on Amazon Prime. He said he and Beth watch a movie on Sunday so they were trying to find something. He said he told Beth to leave it up to him. He said he came up with that. He said then Beth asks is this is really what he piked. Howard said he was a big failure for movie day.
Robin asked if he saw the movie where the girl live in a bubble on another planet. Howard said he'd like that.
Howard said on the phone they have Happy Ronnie who wants to yell at Ronnie. He took the call and the guys were playing clips of Ronnie laughing and calling regular Ronnie names.
Howard took a call from Mariann from Brooklyn who said she's on Team Ronnie no matter what. She said that we all like to have air time but she'd never go on Instagram and snoop. She said that he had to open that all up. Howard asked if she thinks Ronnie overreacted at all. He said all he asked was if he was eating sugary food. Mariann said that he was snooping. Howard said there's no snooping on a public post. Mariann said he was trying to make a bit out of it and he did. She said she never does that. She said she doesn't snoop and open it up even more to find things to talk about. Howard cut her off and hung up and said that's enough.
Howard read some feedback about Robin's thoughts on Ken Jennings. He had some people telling Robin to give the guy a break and give him a chance to host Jeopardy.
Howard had some feedback about Mariann from Brooklyn who was taking some hits. Howard read some feedback about the new Bobo song they had last week that went over very well. Howard played that Bobo song parody again. Howard said that is a great one. He said you never get sick of it. He asked who did that one. It was James Cargill. Howard wrapped up and ended the show around 10:55am.
Howard said there's a documentary on Netflix about Woody Allen and he feels he needs a place to rebut. He said he has Woody on to say something. He took the call from ''Wood Yi'' (Steve the Engineer) who hadn't been on in some time. He said hi to Robin and her big tits. Howard said the show is called Allen Vs. Farrow. Howard talked to Wood Yi about that and he said he likes the poonanny. He said people say he married his wife's daughter but it was actually his girlfriend's daughter.
Wood Yi said that he and Soon Yi are the original step daughter porn. He said now Howard gets it. He said he has done over 60 films and at least 10 of them are watchable. Wood Yi said he was ''MeToo'd'' before anyone else. He said his son Ronan Farrow is a real chip off of someone else's block.
Wood Yi said he has to go because he has a lunch appointment at Soon Yi's wet market if you get what he's saying. He said that means he's going to eat her pussy. He said that for his last meal he wants to be fed more pussy. He said he eats so much pussy he uses pubes for dental floss. He said he eats so much that his burps smell like low tide.
Howard said Wood Yi has made his statement and everyone agrees he's one of the great artists out there. He said that there's a lot of controversy about what he may or may not have done. Wood Yi said oh yeah. When Robin would say something he'd tell her to shut the fuck up.
Wood Yi said that this whole movie is about his shmeckle. Howard said he's on Mia's team and he'd suggest keeping quiet about it if he were him. Wood Yi said nope. Howard said he feels he really cleared nothing up. He let Wood Yi go a short time later.
Howard said Wood Yi didn't seem to like it when Robin interfered. Robin said it's just another woman hater. Howard said he's worried he made things worse. Robin said she's hoping he did. Howard said he's one of those people hanging in there for just one more good movie.
Howard said the real Woody said that the documentarians put together a hatchet job. Howard said he prefers the fake Woody on the show. He said imagine you're in your car and that comes on. He said that's great.
Howard said that they're going to uncover so much shit. He said what he cares about is the complete bungling of the COVID thing. He said he's concerned about this dead cop and how the republican party is ignoring the death of that cop at the Capitol. He said that there are almost 60,000 new cases of Coronavirus as of yesterday. He said two more cops committed suicide after the riot. He said he's going to stick to the one who was killed.
Howard said if he was living in Texas he'd be so upset about the deregulation that took place down there. He said this goes back to George Bush. He said they deregulated their ass so people are dying in their homes frozen. He said they got you off the grid and you run your own thing. He said they had cheap energy until they didn't winterize their equipment. Robin said then it became $4,500 for 5 days of electricity. Howard said then Ted Cruz is on a plane to Cancun. He said he doesn't get how you vote for these guys.
Howard said he's not sure who wants to be in government. He said if you see the disdain for politicians and you want to get into that you're probably not going to want to get into it. He said you don't want people saying they want to hang you. He said the young people aren't going to want to get into it and become president. He said he's not sure why anyone would want to get into it when people are threatening your family. He said lawyers are going to just want to be lawyers and not get into politics. He said who wants to look at Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell and want to serve people.
Howard said that people asked about Rush Limbaugh and he doesn't believe that the guy believed what he was spewing every day. He said he thinks he did it just for ratings. He said he knows how that works. He said he's talking about the real crazy shit. He said you get on and tell people what you think could have happened and make shit up. He said that real people died because they're dummies and don't think they have to wear masks. He said you know a lot of people in your audience are idiots. He said he knew better. He said he wasn't a complete moron. Robin said that's what made him a heinous person.
Howard said he has been on Sean Hannity's show and had Glenn Beck on his show. He said Sean is a really smart guy. He said he's no idiot. He said Alex Jones is a bright guy and he's totally normal off the air. He said same with Glenn Beck. He said he knows they don't believe it when they say this ''fake media'' stuff and things like that. He said Kim Jong Un is the real enemy to this country. He said Putin is the enemy. He said he's not sure why anyone would get into government now. He said it used to be civil. He said that Barry Goldwater would argue with Hubert Humphrey but they were respectful.
Howard said he doesn't think there are good people who want to get into government now. He said what's happened is that nutty people are able to contact other nutty people on social media. He said that's how this riot happened at the Capitol. He said things are getting worse and angrier. Robin said they say that the people most susceptible are people in their age group who don't understand social media. Howard said there's a guy he knows who is an attorney who voted for Trump and he's one of the smartest guys he knows. He said he's not sure how our country can be so divided. He said Nixon was responsible enough to resign. He said that now it's like ''fuck you'' and they refuse. He said that even Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz used to make sense at times but now they just claim ''Fake news'' and go on.
Howard said he considers himself a conservative leaning guy. He said now they say that government is bad but it's not. He said it's not perfect but the whole country is decaying. He said he knows that half his audience hates when he talks about this but he doesn't get how you overlook these huge issues. He said there's corruption and he sees things differently. He said he's not sure how you can be so opposite in what you believe. He said the reason he's not a Rush Limbaugh fan is because he doesn't think that even Rush believed what he was saying. He said he had an interesting point of view. He said this guy Rick Perry said that people would rather freeze than have government in their life. He said he thinks he might have been right. He said that he can sit there and think he's rational but people say he's a crazy liberal. He said he's really not. He said he used to vote for republicans who were into governing and were into government. He said they'd disagree with their party at times. He said things have gotten so angry and vicious that people won't want to get into it. He said even the local school boards will end up like this.
Howard said people used to want to get involved to take a stand but there are nut jobs out there who want to shoot you if they disagree with you. Robin said if that's the case there won't be a United States anymore. Howard said if you think he's a crazy, wacky Liberal he campaigned for Patacki, Whitman, D'Amaato and others. He said that he backed a lot of conservative republicans. He said they all wanted to govern though. He said he's not a wacky Liberal.
Howard said he's talking about the crazy where you ignore the facts and science. He said that he believes it when the NY Times says we don't have enough vaccines because we didn't order enough because of what went on in the last 4 yeas. He said that government has taken a weird turn. He said it's gotten really weird.
Howard said after the Capitol was overturned and a cop is dead and Mitch McConnell makes a speech about how Trump is responsible but he's not going to prosecute that's disturbing.
Howard took a call from a guy who said he's a senior Army Scientist and driving into work in DC. He said he went to school during 9/11 and when he got out he wanted to do something. He said now he's ashamed to tell people what he does for a living. He said they can't get people to come in now. He said it's really a shame. Howard said what he's saying is why he lays awake at night thinking about the world that they're hading over to his kids and grand kids. He said he's a bright guy and he's thinking that he'd go into the private sector because he's deflated.
The caller said that we've lost a sense of purpose and we have to find it again. He said he wants to thank Howard for saying this. He said it gives people like him hope that things might change.
Howard said this CPAC thing is this weekend and Trump is the speaker there. He said republicans aren't moving on. He said people complain about him talking about this on the show and even he gets muzzled by himself. He said he knows people are tuning in for wacky shit. He said that he thinks things are really bad out there.
Howard said there's a woman running for congress who wants to get on the show. He took the call from the guys who were playing Wendy the Slow Adult clips.
Howard said he knows that people don't want to hear this stuff on the show so he's going to move on. He said he thinks we're on a slippery slope.
Howard said he gets that he wants to stay in power. Mitch said he'd gargle Trump's balls if he had to. He demonstrated what that would sound like by gargling.
Mitch said that he has been a big supporter of Trump's and he even made sure that he didn't get indicted for the riots at Congress and he's actually in Congress.
Howard said he has a Zoom call from former president Trump now. He got him on and Trump went off on Mitch saying that he hates him more than Ronnie hates Apples. Fake Mitch and Fake Trump went at each other a little bit with some insults.
Howard said both of them are on the same team but they're fighting. Mitch said that he agrees that they are on the same team. Trump said they're both on Team Trump until Mitch grew a pair after he was out of office. He said he looks like Roger Ebert after he got cancer. Mitch and Trump went back and forth with the joke insults for a short time.
Howard said that they have to be making news now. He said he has to thank them for doing it on his show. Howard said politics have gotten so ugly that he's afraid that they're going to say something that they're going to regret. They went at each other with more insults.
Howard said he has never heard anyone stand up like this. He said that they should apologize to each other. Mitch said that he would like to apologize. He said that he's spent so much time talking about what a loser Trump is that he forgot to say what a sack of shit he is. Trump went off on him about that and insulted Mitch.
Howard said this is why people are not governing anymore. He said he has to cut this off. He let both of the guys go. Howard said his point is that people aren't governing and they're just talking shit.
Howard took a call from a guy who said that he wanted to talk about what he was talking about earlier and people aren't volunteering for fire departments and things like that either. He said that Howard has evolved so much and he loves that he shares what he's thinking. Howard said the only people who are going to want to go into government are people who want power and money. He said they used to get people who were intellectual but people want to hang you if they don't agree with you and those people won't want to get into politics.
Howard said he's worn out from the past 44 minutes of show. He said that stuff really wore him out.
Howard said he knew he wanted to be on radio at 5. He said Jim Kerr wanted to get on when he was in second grade. He said that he started out at 15 years old. He said it's unbelievable. He said he's there due to sheer will. He said he sounded like Kermit choking on a sock and he somehow got on.
Howard said this is tape of Jim Kerr in 1975. He played the clip and Jim had a really deep announcer voice back then. Howard said he'd sit there listening to that and wonder how to do that. He said the guy was perfect. He said his father would hear that and tell him that's what a radio guy is. He said the guy was around his age and he was still in college and Jim was on the air in New York already.
Howard said in 1985 WPLJ switch to top 40 and it didn't even mater. He said Jim still had a job. He said there was a guy on the radio named Al Bernstein who was on WNEW there in New York. He said that he sounded like that. He said then this guy is on a classical music station on the weekends. He said there was a big debate about if it ruined his rock credibility. He said the guy was so smooth that he'd do any radio with that voice. He said he sounded like shit and couldn't be like those guys.
Robin said Howard and Jim Kerr are the same age. Howard said he was still in college trying to find himself and Jim was already on the air. He said he's not sure how he went into radio. He said his father was right about him being an idiot. He said this guy Al Bernstein was great on any station he was on.
Howard said this is Jim Kerr on WPLJ in 1975. He played clips of that and then had some audio from 1985 when they went top 40. He said this is Jim in 1985. He played a clip. He said there you go. He said he sounded just as good doing that.
Howard said he wasn't even able to get the records on right. He said he never thought about coming in early to get the records picked out. He said he didn't want to annoy the other DJs. He said the first time he was on air he fucked up so bad he jammed up the entire board. He said they had to bring in the engineer. He said he was such a fucking loser. He said he had a six hour shift and the board was jammed for 2 hours. He said the guy didn't fire him. He said that was Donald J. Barnett. He thanked him for not firing him after that.
Howard said he had a guy in the studio asking him questions while he was on the air. He said he was afraid he as going to lose his job. He said this guy was so professional and he must have heard him and laughed his ass off. He said he must have come in to see what douche bag was on the air.
Howard played more clips of Jim Kerr and said he's having PTSD now. He said that this guy is so good. He said just hearing him laugh makes him wonder how you do that. He said that he knew he was in deep trouble when he'd hear that. He said he had to figure out how to be funny on the air. He said he had to do that so he wasn't a loser. He said he figured he could put together some crazy show. He said it was such a struggle.
Howard said he got his victory years later when they were on K-Rock. He said he told Gary to go interview someone. He asked where that was. Gary said it was at the Garden with Huey Lewis. He said he was in line with 5 radio stations and Jim Kerr was one of the guys there. Gary said that they had dumb questions for Huey. Howard said Gary asked if he worshiped the devil and things like that. He said Huey thought it was funny. He said Jim Kerr was there and he grabbed Gary and said something to him. Gary said that Jim said that they were ruining it for the rest of us thinking they can do what they want. Howard said he was on a mission to ruin it for everyone. He said that he was working to make his show so funny that they'd have to do something. Gary said Jim was like ''Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us.'' Howard said that's a huge compliment to him actually.
Howard said Jim Kerr is his hero actually. He said he just has to do that voice. He said he just reupped for another 5 years on that station. He said it doesn't matter what kind of radio station he's on, he can still do the job. He said he didn't give a fuck what kind of music they played on the stations he was on. He said that's the kind of job he would have loved. Howard played more clips of Jim and said the other night he watched a seminar about jingles on radio stations. He said what the guy was saying was that you go to a rock show and the band doesn't just come out on stage. He said they're playing something to get the audience jacked up. He said they play something to get people worked up. He said radio stations need the same thing and they need excitement. He said you need that crazy sound in the background. Howard did some of that with some music playing.
Howard said he's so taken with radio that he still wants to hear what people have to say. Robin asked how he got this jingle seminar. Howard said he had a jingle company record crazy jingles for the show. He said that they had some really crazy stuff. Gary said they had that ''You stupid dick'' jingle. Howard said that's right. He said they had people doing those jingles every day. He said it just turned him on. He asked if they did that at NBC. Gary said he thinks they did it at K-Rock. He said someone did them for free because they knew them somehow.
Howard said maybe there's hope and people will see this going on and see that it's not fake news. Howard said it's so funny seeing Ted Cruz handing out water. He said it reminded him of Trump throwing paper towels to people in Puerto Rico. He said meanwhile Beto O'Rourke is actually helping people out down there. He said some of these assholes with the guns are saying that Beto is going to take their guns. He said Obama didn't even take your guns so they're not going anywhere. He said that he sees some of these idiots with guns and they don't know what they're doing. He said they should have to pass a gun exam before you can get one.
Howard said there's a crazy energy in this country going on. The caller said that they were doing so well down there getting companies to move there from California. He said now that's going to stop because of this incompetence. Howard said he hates sounding like Mr. Blue because he's so conservative. He said that this stuff is just crazy.
Howard said he has to get off of this stuff. He said he doesn't want to get all political again. Robin said she and Howard were talking and she said she would be a republican but she can't. Howard said if you're a rational person you can't. He said they've thrown it all away. He said it's all crazy shit.
Howard did a live commercial read and went to break.

Howard came back and talked about how much he loves Joe Walsh. He said this is such a good song. He said he's sure that Joe is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said he's a real genius. He said he was performing with Sheryl Crow in a video he saw the other day and Joe is so entertaining to watch. He said he never wants him to die. He said he's just so good. He said it's a miracle that he's alive. He said they knew him in his drinking years but he pulled himself together and he was able to do it. Robin said Joe must love music that much that he was able to pull it together.
Howard said it was sad to be around him back in those days when he was drinking. He said he had a lot of enablers around him. He said The Eagles laid down the law to him and said he can't just do what he wants.
Howard said Joe is in the hall of fame with the Eagles but not as a solo artist. He said that's another mistake with that hall of fame. He said Stevie Nicks said that was the greatest love of her life. Robin said she didn't know that they were a couple. Howard said oh yeah. He said that Robin gets it now. He said maybe now she'll give him a chance. He said he could see that look in her eyes.
Howard said in college he knew this really good looking girl who was just a friend of his. He said her name was Rita. He said they knew each other from when they were kids. He said she was stunning He said she had a body like Cher with the long hair but blonde. He said she was a show stopper. He said he'd walk with her and he felt good walking with her. He said one day a stunning woman came up to him and started having a conversation with him. He said he wondered if someone was goofing on him. He said this girl was so good looking. He said she had the body of a super model. He said she was tall like Rita. He said she starts flirting with him. He said he was beside himself. He said that it was too good to be true. He said that they were interested in each other. He said they eventually started to make out. He said she had this friend who was really ugly. He said the ugly one was really bright and into Women's lib and all of that. He said it was like he was getting into a cult hearing them talk about these issues. He said he was intoxicated. He said he thinks he even felt her titties. He said he thought he was going to be fucking this girl. He said he thought that he could be a winner finally. He said walking around with this girl was intimidating. He said she had real titties and they were nice. He said that this girl couldn't get enough of him.
Howard said one day he's having a conversation and she asks about Rita. He said he told her he had known her for years and she asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend. He said he was vague so this girl went up to Rita and asked her about it. He said she said something honest most likely. He said he went over to this girl's room and she wasn't home. He said once she realized that he wasn't desirable to Rita they broke up.
Howard said he saw that look in Robin's eye when he told her that Joe dated Stevie. He said that this girl didn't even break up with him. He said she just never spoke to him again. He said it was probably for the best. He said he was very intimidated.
Howard said this is like Pete Davidson dating Ariana Grande. He said that he had Kaia Gerber coming after him. Fred played clips of Tan Mom trying to say Ariana Grande.
Howard said he has to remind Beth about the women that he dated when he was single for a short time. He said you have to do that to make yourself desirable. He said that you have to make sure they know there's someone out there who wants to fuck you. He said Robin is thinking about fucking Joe Walsh now. He said we're all playing games.
Howard said he still remembers this girl's first name from college. He said he thinks about her a lot. He said he wanted her so badly. He said he missed out. He said he was so close. He said he found out she grew up in Westchester. He said that's where rich people grew up. He said he grew up in a shithole. He said it was so bad the state had to come in and run the high school. He said that's how bad it was. He said this hot chick looks like a super model and she's from Westchester. He said the houses there looked like colonials. He said he grew up where the houses were split level.
Howard said he should give out this girl's name. He said she's close to 70 now so she might be a mess like he is.
Howard said that Mitch McConnell is with a woman who has money and he's not sure how he did that. Robin said her dad is super rich. Howard said you can imagine what it was like for him. He said that he was almost with a woman like that. He said he should have paid Rita to go around telling women that he had a huge cock. He said he doesn't do cover ups very well though. He said just imagine he brings that girl home to his family.
Howard said he was in love with a girl when he was 18 and he never brought her home to his parents. He said that would have ruined things. He said that Irene never got to meet his parents. He said they would have told her what a loser he was. He said they didn't make a great presentation either.
Robin said last night was the family introductions on The Bachelor. She said that they must go into the homes and prepare because no one walks into a nightmare.
Howard got Steve Nowicki on to demonstrate it. Steve said that it kills the sound coming out of the guitar. He said that what Tom does is make it sound like a record scratch. He told Howard what he does and how he does it and demonstrated it as he was going.
Howard asked if he can do the helicopter sound that he does too. Steve tried doing it but said he can't do it that well. He said he does this other thing too. He said it's the 90s west coast high pitch thing. He said it brings the guitar up a couple of octaves. Howard said he gets crazy sounds out of his guitar. Steve did more of those sounds and showed Howard how he does it.
Howard said Steve is a good guitar player because he's obsessive about it. He asked what the song is that he can't get after trying for 14 years. Steve said it's Technical Difficulties by Racer X. He said it's hard to get it right. He said it's a lot of scales. He showed Howard how he's doing with it.
Howard said he has a theory about how guitar plying you have to do slow and work your way up to doing it fast. Steve said hat's what he does. He said that he tries doing 80 beats per minute and that song he can't get right is 130. He said he practices every day.
Howard asked if he has ever been in a band and got to work in one. Steve said he has played in some bands. He said he's studying music theory now. He said he can't just sit down and write a song. He said he can mimic them. Howard asked if he has an original riff. Steve said he has some. He said he has done them for the show. Howard said he wants to hear a riff of his own. Steve said this is something he played the other day. He played something that sounded Van Halen-like. Howard said that's cool. Robin said that's not something Howard could sing along with.
Howard said this is what he plans on talking to Tom about. He said that he wants to talk to him about guys who are as good as Steve who don't have musical careers. He said it must be sad. He said there's only a few who rise to the top like Tom. He asked what the difference is between Steve and Tom. Steve said that Tom is so inventive. He said to come up with the scratching thing you have to look at the guitar like no one ever has.
Howard said that Tom was considered the shittiest guitar player when he started out. He said he sat down and practiced every day. He said he thinks he's one of the best out there now. Steve said he agrees and he is in the top 10. He said that everyone in the 80s has a basic guitar. He said Tom had the one with all of this stuff on it but he did some cool shit with it. He said he came up with a sound that sounds like no one else. Howard said that he came up with the cool stuff that no one else had done. He said there is more that can be done with the guitar. He said he's excited to have Tom on the show. Howard said Robin is now looking at Steve like Joe Walsh. Robin laughed.
Howard said he heard something about Steve. He asked if he's screaming in his sleep and sleep walking. Steve said he does but it's getting better. He said he sleep walks too. He said he only does it like 2 or 3 times a month now. He said he used to run out of the room but now they have heavy doors so he can't do that now. He said his girlfriend gets freaked out by it. Howard said he used to scream in his sleep a lot. He said that his grandfather used to do it too. Steve said his mom does it too. He said his dad is always telling him about the kooky shit she does. He said they both just go to bed after.
Howard said Beth used to do an impression of him screaming. He said he sounded like a real idiot in it. Steve said that his girlfriend tells him what he sounds like too. He said they're dreams and he wakes up screaming and he realizes they're just dreams.
Steve said he had one dream about Howard about a month ago. He said in the dream Howard was talking about him and how he doesn't give 100 percent and he woke up screaming. Howard said that was real actually. He told Steve to go practice his guitar and leave them alone.
Howard said Tom Morello will be on tomorrow. He said he's interested in talking to this guy about his show The Revolution. Robin said he did cause a revolution with his guitar playing. Howard said the show is just about music though. He said he's turned him on to a lot of music and it's a very good show.
Howard said Tom's comments about the music that you get interested in the song even if you don't like it. He said he's excited to have him on tomorrow. He said he's not sure how many Tom Morellos are out there to do shows but he's particularly good at it.
Howard said he has to ask Tom about how many songs he's performed on that he doesn't take credit for. He said he bets he's done a lot of that and we don't even know about it. He said there's a lot of that out there. He said the one he likes is when Eddie Van Halen played on Michael Jackson's ''Beat It.'' He said that's kind of a cool story. He said that Eddie said he didn't want to be credited on the album. He said he wanted to be paid but not with money. He wanted to be paid with a case of beer. He said Eddie also wanted Michael to teach him out to dance. He said those were the three conditions. He said he's not sure if he ever did learn to dance from him. Howard played the clip from the song where Eddie played. Howard said it's a brilliant solo. He said he did all of that for a case of beer.
Howard said the other guy in rock was Jimmy Page who has played on so many other records. He said he was studio guitarist. He said hew worked with Donovan, The Who and many others. Howard said that he bets Robin doesn't even know that he played on Joe Cocker's ''With a Little Help From My Friends.'' Robin said she didn't know that. Howard played some of the song and said he was blown away by that when he found out. He said he doesn't remember when he found that out.
Howard said if he played on a song like that he'd be getting laid from it. He said he's sure Jimmy Page barely remembers it.
Howard said Aretha Franklin did a cover of The Band's ''The Weight'' and you have to hear this guitar. He played a clip and asked if Robin knows who that is. Robin said Bonnie Raitt. Howard said that's good but it was Duane Allman.
Howard said another good one is this. He said Young MC had that hit ''Bust a Move'' and there's someone on bass guitar in the song. Howard played some of the song and said that won't help. He asked who is one of the most famous guys at slapping the bass. He said he's tremendous. He said it's actually Flea playing on that song. Robin said she never would have guessed that.
Howard said according to Flea he wrote the bass line for that song. He said he felt he deserved a writing credit on that song. He said he was paid just $200 for that session. Robin asked why he would take that gig. Howard said he wasn't Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers yet. Howard said Flea said he learned a lesson from that. Robin said she's sure he did.
Howard said this is Chaka Kahn's ''I Feel for You'' and there's harmonica in there. Robin said that's Stevie Wonder. Howard said she's right. He said that Stevie had been at Marvin Gaye's funeral earlier that morning. He said he's like a music machine that guy.
Howard said that Stevie played harmonica on Elton John's ''That's Why they Call It the Blues'' too. He played some of that. He said there's a million stories like that out there.
Howard said there are stories about the Stones and the Beatles hanging out and they bring Paul and John to record a song with the Stones. Howard said the Stones are there and they ask if they want to sing with them. He said John and Paul sang backup vocals on a song. He said it sounds like a Beatles song to him. He played some of the song ''We Love You'' and said he knows all of this rock trivia.
Howard said that song ''Back in the High Life'' has James Taylor singing backup vocals. He played some of that song. Robin said now she can hear it. Howard said that's him. He said there's a bunch of shit like that. He said James Taylor did backup on the Neil Young song ''Heart of Gold'' too. He played that song too.
Howard said evidently this shit happens randomly. He said there were a bunch of people performing on the Johnny Cash television show and Neil Young asked James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt to sing on the song.
Howard said they have to get into a band. He said they're wasting their time there. He said Rob Zombie asked him to sing with him and it didn't work out.
Howard said Pink Floyd wanted all of the Beach Boys to be on their album The Wall and they had it all scheduled to do it. He said that sounds weird to do that. He said the only guy who actually shows up is Bruce Johnston. He said the Beach Boys think it's not going to be anything but Bruce shows up and Pink Floyd gets pissed. He said Bruce says he knows this girl Toni Tennille so he calls her and gets her to perform. He said it was Bruce and Toni doing backup vocals on a coupe of songs on The Wall. He said he never would have known that. He said you never know this shit. He said this is one of the best songs on the album. He played some ''In The Flesh'' from that album. Howard said he gets the chills every time he hears this song.
Howard said the weirdest one is the Beach Boys having Paul McCartney eating celery on a song ''Vegetables.'' Howard said he had always heard about that but it was an urban legend. He said they asked Paul about it and he confirmed it a few years ago. He played the song where they had the chewing that Paul did for the song.
Howard said Paul is like the best celery player in the world because you can really hear it there. He said he could go on and on with this. He said he has to ask Tom about what he's played on that they don't know about. He said he's going to take a break and get to more. He went to break after that.

Howard came back and said he heard from Pat from Train. He said he's doing alright. He said all of these musicians can't make a living if they can't go on tour. Robin said they probably never thought there would be a time like this. Howard said now is the time to do it when people are interested in them. He said it sucks but he wasn't bitching or anything. Robin said she thinks about the Stones and how this happened and they can't go on tour. Howard said when you're 79 you have to be thinking about how you have a good summer or two left. He said it's so fucking weird.
Howard said he was reading about someone dropping dead and it was so weird. He said Larry King didn't have a will. Robin said he did but it was hand written. Howard said everything is bizarre. He asked what's going on when Larry King doesn't hire a lawyer to write his will. Howard wondered if he wrote it with that ''...'' thing. He did his impression of Larry doing the dot, dot, dot thing.
Howard said Aretha Franklin had several hand written wills in her home when she died. He said she was a wealthy woman so she should have had a lawyer do it. Robin said that sounds like she was writing them whenever someone pissed her off. Howard said that she's acting like a poor person. He said his parents could have a hand written will. Robin said people were pissing Aretha off so much that she didn't have time to call a lawyer. Howard said you can have this thing called a Codicil that's faster than writing a whole will. He said that you read about Prince not having a will and now his whole archive is being put out.
Robin said Serena Williams was being asked about Valentine's day and she said she's a Jehovah's witness and they don't celebrate that. Howard said that's no fun. He said if he was in that Jehovah's Witness thing he'd come up with something fun.
Howard took a call from a woman who said that he doesn't talk about being Jewish living in Roosevelt. She said she grew up Jewish in another neighborhood like that. Howard said he has to tell her that it was really tough growing up in Roosevelt. He said that there were maybe 10 families who were white in Roosevelt at one time. He said that they would just move out overnight. Howard said the moving truck would come in the middle of the night. He said on a Friday night people would move out and the new family would move in and you'd go over to ask the kid to come out and play and there was a new family in the house.
Howard said they called it white flight when the families would move out like that. He said Roosevelt was targeted by the real estate agents. He said that everyone panicked and moved out. Robin said they all thought their property values were going to drop so they wanted to get out first.
Howard said this is how the community went. He said he remembers going to school and the whole community is black other than maybe 10 white kids. He said the few that were friends with him turned on each other. He said he's not sure why but it was like being alone on an island. He said it was all very strange.
Howard said you know how kids will go off on their own to groups and there weren't many kids to choose from. He said the white kids were also under attack every day. He said they'd go to school and suddenly you're in the minority. He said when Martin Luther King was assassinated it got the black kids to beat the white kids up. He said they had slim pickings there so they had to beat someone up. He said it was fucking nuts what was going on there. He said he never got beaten up for being Jewish, just for being white. He said he admires that. He said there were 3 Polish kids who stuck together and formed a group. He said they were pretty good fighters but they lost fights to the black guys too. He said the Polish guys would pick on him for being Jewish. He said that one of those Polish kids punched him for being Jewish. He said he got the double whammy there. He said that he was beaten up for being white and for being Jewish. He said he just wanted to be beaten up for being white. He said that would have been nice.
Howard said this kid sat in front of him and his two buddies sat on each said of him. He said he should have just taken the punch but he took his book and whacked the guy so hard that he made his nose bleed. He said he doesn't know why he had to punch him in the face. He said his two buddies wanted to beat the shit out of him after school. He said he had 4 periods after that and the black kids left him alone so he could prepare for his fight later in the day.
Howard said hitting that kid in the head with the book was like his John Wick moment. He said he decided to run home as fast as he could after school. He said he didn't want to stick around to get beaten up.
Howard said his father had nothing to do with him so he never helped him out with anything as far as fighting back. He said his father didn't want to move out of Roosevelt. He said his mother was on some liberal rant about not being afraid of black people. He said she said they were brothers under the skin. He said he was like ''Shut up!''
Howard said those kids found him after school. He said all three of them were throwing punches at him. He said he remembers getting knocked on the ground and he got up an kicked a kid in the balls so hard he was on the ground. He said he ran off after that and they didn't chase him. He said he got home and sat in his house after that. He said all of his white friends were gone and they didn't call him. He said now they call him. He said they all moved away and didn't call but now they want to talk. He said everything was miserable. He said he decided to study chess. He said the guy who trained him didn't know anything about chess.
Howard said that this one friend did call him after he moved out. He said he wanted to come visit to see black people because he'd never seen them before. He said that kid was welcome to come see what was going on. He said Doug did come over. He said then Doug wanted to see black people at night. He said he wanted to go stand on the corner at night. Howard said he told him not to go out at night in his neighborhood but he went out and came back about 5 minutes later. He said he didn't last long out there. He said he stood on maybe one of the scariest blocks in the world. He said he never came back to visit.
Howard said it was really great growing up there. He said this is why he enjoys the pandemic and doesn't want to leave the house. Howard said he would have thrived in this environment when he was in Roosevelt.
Robin said she was watching a clip of Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama talking about how bad their fathers were. She said that Howard would have loved that. Howard said he has his own issues. He said he can top whatever they have. He said he has a very unique background.
Howard said Benjy is on that dating app too. He said he has an answer to all of his problems. He said how about Drew showing up to that shithole he lives in. Benjy said he has seen Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman on the app. He said there are some of the Real Housewives on there too. He said he thinks one is Sonja and that Radzwell on there. He said one of them had a picture of Beth on her profile. Howard said they actually know her.
Howard asked Benjy why he doesn't try to get Chelsea Handler or Sarah Silverman on the app. Benjy said he'd love to do that but it's not that easy. Howard asked if he ha sever been matched with a celebrity. Benjy said he feels like there was one. Howard said he fucked the mom of a celebrity. Benjy said that was a hook up and not from the app.
Benjy said there are a lot of levels to go through to get one of these women. He said if he sees a picture he picks ''like'' or you can send a message to someone in some of the apps. He said then you have to wait for any good looking woman to go through the messages she gets. He said they may be getting 10,000. He said it's a lot of waiting. He said you can buy tokens to get to the front of the line. Howard asked how many you have to buy. He said he wants women to see Benjy. Benjy said it's just one token per girl. Howard said it would be so cool to have Drew show up at your door in sweat pants. He said Benjy is funny and maybe he can get that going. He said he'll talk to Benjy about the token thing after the show.
Howard took a call from a woman who said she's getting her COVID vaccine today. She said that Howard was talking about the fight and she wondered if he has seen that movie ''3 O'clock High.'' Howard said he has and that was the story of his life. He said he also loves that Van Halen video where Waldo is shaking in his pants.
Howard said they got some feedback about Ronnie and Apples fight that spilled over to yesterday's show. Howard said someone suggested getting Scott Schmaren to hypnotize Ronnie to bring back the fun Ronnie. Howard said Scott will actually be on soon to hypnotize Ronnie.
Howard said the fans seem to be enjoying the feud between Ronnie and Apples. He read through some of that feedback and some people are concerned about Ronnie's mental health. He said someone said it's a clear sign of dementia. Howard said Ronnie has been like that his whole life so he doesn't think it's dementia.
Howard said there is some evidence of the dementia thing. He said they were quizzing Ronnie about some idioms and that's like a non literal phrase. He said that they asked him about things like what ''Hit the hey'' means to him. He said that Ronnie shut down after a few tries. He played a clip of Ronnie trying to say what ''Dime a dozen'' means. Ronnie asked what it was again and wasn't able to come up with what the meaning was. They asked Ronnie what ''Kill two birds with one stone'' and Ronnie wasn't able to come up with what that one means either. Ronnie said he can't do this and said it's fucking up his head. He said he can't do it anymore.
Howard said things didn't get any better after that. He played a clip of Ronnie talking about how his head almost exploded. He said that he was in a frozen trance there. He said he froze up completely. He said it's a fucking head game. Ronnie said just read them and he'll try it again. They tried it with another idiom but Ronnie said his head is blurring out on him there. Ronnie kept saying he just can't do it. He said it's the weirdest feeling ever. He said he's not sure what it is.
Howard played another clip of Ronnie explaining how he felt and how he has to talk to his shrink about it. Howard said that Ronnie had to sleep for 14 hours after that.
Ronnie said what happened was they hit him with about 20 of these things and it got to a point where he doesn't know what happened and his brain froze up. He said it was after like 15 of those things. He said he was answering them but then he froze up. Howard said he's not even sure what the game was. He said he wasn't sure it would make it to the air. He said he's not sure how the idioms got started. Robin said they were just asking what they mean. Howard asked what the one was that fucked him up. Ronnie said he doesn't remember but everything went blank. He said he's never had that happen in his life. He said he completely froze up and was staring at the wall. He said he wasn't able to move. Howard asked if he thinks something is going on. Ronnie said it was scary as shit. He said for the rest of the day he had a terrible headache. He said it was really fucked up. He said he fell asleep that night and woke up like 2 hours later at 1 in the morning or so. He said he wasn't able to go back to sleep but then he got up and it was afternoon. He said he didn't get out of bed until 4:30 in the afternoon.
Howard said he hopes the quarantine isn't getting to him. Ronnie said it had something to do with his head.
Howard took a call from a guy who said he thinks that Ronnie has Apples on the brain. He said that might be what's bothering him. Ronnie said this was before Apples. He said this was weeks ago.
Howard took a call from a guy who said he should be seeing someone about the headaches. He said that maybe he's just fucking stupid. Howard said he's not stupid. The caller said ask him some now. Howard said he doesn't want to stress the guy out.
Howard said that he has Apples on the phone. Ronnie asked why he takes his calls. He said the guy claims to be a salesman but he's a maintenance guy. He said he's just a liar. Ronnie said Apples claims that he's the guy who shows you how the RVs work and he's not a salesman. He said that the real salesman sells the thing but Apples lies about it all.
Howard asked Apples if he lied. Apples said that Ronnie stumbled on to that. He said he used to do that job but now he's a salesman. He said he has a friend there who can confirm his job. He asked one of the guys if he's a salesman there. The guy said yes he is at Windage RV. Ronnie went off on Apples again and said he's just a liar and trying to make it out like he's something he's not.
Howard said that he has to ask Ronnie a question. He said he doesn't want to stress him out. Ronnie said he's getting all the scoop on this guy. He said everyone is coming out of the woodwork about what a phony he is.
Howard said he thinks that Apples is barking up the wrong tree with him. He asked what that means. Ronnie said he's trying to be friends and he's not. Howard said he doesn't want to stress the guy out. Ronnie said it's not stressing him out. He said it's great to see what a phony this guy really is. He said he's trying to be someone he's not.
Howard said that some people might say that Ronnie is a truck driver if they found a photo of him driving a truck. He said they could make something up. Ronnie said he's not making stuff up and this guy is just a phony and he's not even a salesman. Apples said he doesn't want to ring his bell anymore. He said the whole staff is afraid of him. Ronnie said no one is afraid of him here.
Howard asked Apples to stop beating around the bush and tell him what he wants to know. Apples said they should ask Dr. Agus about what's going on with him. Ronnie kept interrupting Apples when he was trying to speak. He said there's no point to this guy and he's a phony douche bag. Apples asked Howard to mute Ronnie. Howard let Ronnie keep going off on this guy. Ronnie said no one is laughing at this guy. Howard said he wants to end this. He said he wants to hear what he has to say. Ronnie said there's no pausing him now. He said he's not going to stop. He went off on Apples about how he sucks as a stand up comedian and he's not funny. He said he's a liar and trying to be someone he's not. Howard said if he's going to keep talking over him he's going to end this. Ronnie said he'll never stop. Howard let Apples go after that. Ronnie kept going off on him. Fred did his Ronnie Puppet thing and had the puppet goofing on Apples about the things he has that Apples doesn't.
Howard asked Ronnie if he thinks that Apples is ''pulling his leg'' and if it should just be water under the bridge. Ronnie said goodbye. Howard asked if it's just beating a dead horse. Ronnie said they were doing that with him calling in every day.
Howard said he wanted to ask Apples about being a salesman. He said Ronnie didn't let him talk to the guy. Ronnie said he doesn't want to give him the air time. Howard asked if Ronnie is playing with a full deck. Ronnie said he's not. He said he lost his mind a long time ago. He said there are a to of aces and jacks missing in there.
Howard said Bobo says that he was happy to hear Ronnie defending him. He took Bobo's call and Bobo said it's enough of Apples already. He said he thinks it should be Unfollow Apples. Ronnie said they'll do it on their own. He said there are people coming out of the woodwork about what a phony he is. Bobo said he's a fake and a fraud.
Bobo said he wanted to revisit the call he had last week about Fred saying that he was stalking him. He said there are three sides to a story. He said it's his side, Fred's side and the truth. He said he went to a motorcycle event and a gig he was doing. Bobo said he wasn't stalking him. He said he went to an event that he was at. He said that's not stalking. He said he used to help Fred with the band equipment. He said they went to a 7-Eleven to get coffee once. Fred said that equipment thing doesn't sound right either. He said he doesn't think they would have let him touch it. He said that doesn't sound right to him.
Howard said he has to wrap this up. Bobo said he's going for an operation tomorrow and he hasn't had his shot yet. He said he's getting his meniscus done tomorrow. Howard wished him luck with that. He cut Bobo Puppet off too and said he's had enough. He said he hopes Bobo is okay after his surgery.
Howard said this was an exhausting show. He said they had a lot going on. He said they'll see you tomorrow with another show. He ended it around 10:15am.
Howard started the show talking about how you can't help but dance at the start of the show. Robin said something fell out of her head last night. She said that she hasn't been going to the dentist and she was waiting and waiting and all of a sudden she bit down and felt something crunch. Howard asked what she did. Robin said a cap came off or something. She said it's not in the front. Howard said he can see it on the side. He said she has to go to the dentist. Robin said she's going today. She said she did have some blood while brushing her teeth.
Howard said he spoke to Dr. Agus and told him he hasn't been to the dentist in a year. He said he usually goes every 3 months. He said Dr. Agus told him that people are getting vaccinated and the dentists have good protocol so there are no known cases of contracting Coronavirus at the dentist. He said it should be okay. He said Robin has to go. He said she reminds him of Tom Hanks in Castaway when he had to do his own dentistry. He said he used a rock though.
Howard said that Dr. Agus is so good. He said he reads his book ''The Lucky Years'' when he's in the bathroom. He said he gets in and out of there quick so he doesn't get hemorrhoids. He said he feels okay reading a little bit in there. He said he likes to wait until he's about to crap his pants before going.
Howard said he found this quote in Dr. Agus' book that he liked. He said ''The Greater the ignorance the greater the dogmatism.'' He said he liked that quote. He said people are so fucking dogmatic when they're ignorant. He said they're the people you just can't argue with. Fred played a clip of Sal saying that his dog visited him. Howard said that's right. He said another example of that is people who refuse to wear masks because of ''carbon monoxide.'' He said they think that's going to kill them. He said then you tell them that every scientist and doctor says you can cut down on the Coronavirus and other things by wearing a mask. Robin said she had a 12 hour surgery and the doctors had to wear masks for 12 hours. Howard said they somehow manage to do it. Robin said these people can't even wear it to an ice cream shop for a few minutes.
Howard said smokers don't care what goes into their lungs but then they're worried about these masks. Robin said it's like Meth addicts who won't take the vaccine.
Howard said he was watching a Minister Farrakhan video where he was telling people not to take the vaccine. He said he's fascinated by that guy. He said the other thing is when people tell you to show them something in the bible that agrees with something. He said that book was written by man to get people under control. He said you know the crowd. He said that they're the ones saying that God made Adam and Eve but not Adam and Steve. Robin said they don't know that he didn't make Steve too.
Howard said there are 13,000 rules in the bible but they on;y know the one that says men don't sleep with men. He said that everyone has the rules they like. Howard said he liked that quote about ''The greater the ignorance...''
Howard said he had a very sexy workout. He said yesterday was Hannah Corbin day. He said he doesn't think she even knows how sexy she is. He said she wears that Peloton Apparel. He said he was looking at this work out that was at a 7.5 level. Robin asked if that's on a scale of 100.
Howard asked Fred what he was doing with the music. Fred said he was trying to do something with some sexy music but he changed his mind. Howard said he can do whatever he wants because he doesn't want Fred to shove him in the trunk of his car.
Howard said that his daughter was telling him about some guy who calls himself Quentin Quarantino on the internet and he does memes. He said he found that name kind of funny.
Howard said he was watching this Hannah Corbin and she's so sexy. He said that there are guys on The Bachelor who are in the hot tub with really hot chicks and they don't get up with boners. He said that he would be so good on the show because he'd get up and have a boner. He said he's not sure how they do it. He said they must be doing something to keep it down. Robin said maybe they have a special effect to cover it up.
Howard said Hannah was his instructor yesterday. He said she was in a grey Peloton bra top and tight leotard pants. He said they were like Yoga pants or whatever. He said she was so hot. He said she can tell when people are on with her and she was bending over to see who was doing the best and you see her ass in the mirror. He said her tweets are even hot. He said she posts about the classes she's going to run. He said he could watch that like a pornography class. He said she has an ass like a peach.
Howard said he doesn't need to be turned on. He said he's biking. He said he's not sure if she knows she's hot. Robin said she has to know now because Howard is always telling her. Howard said when you go to work and you have to have security people around you then you must know.
Howard said he was wondering what she looks like naked when she bent over and had her ass there. He said he was thinking that he'd explode if he put just a little bit of his penis inside her. He said she'd be so disappointed with him. He said he'd shoot his load barely past her lips. He said as he's biking she's humiliating him telling him how shitty he is in bed in his mind. He said this is while he's biking. He said he's breaking up with her and she's so disappointed in him sexually. He said that she's giving him a Ferrari to drive and he's fucking up.
Howard said then in the second shot he gets his penis in all the way and explodes again. He said she'd think he's such a loser. He said he thinks about how fantastic this is. He said he'd have a bad break up and he's done with her after one date. He said he visualized the entire relationship during that class. He said he doesn't want to go through it. He said there's no way he could handle being in the sack with her. He said even in his fantasy life he's miserable.
Howard said the other thing she does that shows she knows she's hot is talk about her husband all the time. He said she was also talking about the wonderful day she had with her husband having bagels and lox. He said then she did a work out with Jenn Sherman. He said she also talked about the other crazy food she was eating. He said that she doesn't count her peanuts. He said that she's not eating Chinese food and bagels and lox. He said she probably had one noodle. He said she probably had one teaspoon of brown rice. He said that he had to talk himself out of that whole relationship.
Howard said the other thing they do is act like they're musical experts. He said they talk about their play lists and the music they play. He said he's telling them to shush and just work out.
Robin said they should have her on as a guest. Howard said he might. He said he wants to watch her eat a bagel and lox. He said they can just watch her eat. Robin said she probably doesn't even bother to put it in. Howard said he had some workout. He said he loves that he went out with her, had sex with her and then broke up in a 30 second period of time. Robin said they say that your brain doesn't know the difference between reality and fantasy so he actually had that relationship in his mind.
Howard said he's reading about the things Hannah ate. He said that he'll eat whatever she's eating if it'll give him an ass like she has. Howard said he has a flat My Pillow back there right now.
Howard read more about the food she eats and said she must have a lot of farting going on back there with that food. He said that veggie bowl is probably the size of a pea.
Howard played some ''Killing in the Name'' and some ''Bulls on Parade'' while they were talking about that. Howard said they can wait until he's in there to talk about all of that.
Howard said they have to stop with these gender reveal parties. He said he someone died from one. Robin said there have been a few more deaths. Howard said hey have cause forest fires too. He said the problem in this country is that everyone wants constant excitement. Robin said they have to have things to video. Howard said they have to have events.
Howard said this death is the second one this year so far. He said it's only February. He said it's such nonsense. He said some of the fires in California last year were caused by these parties.
Howard said the travel industry loves this stuff because you have to travel. He said they have these people at their parties who put the video out to everyone. He said that you'd think it would be a private thing. He said sometimes shit goes wrong and you might have to get an abortion or maybe you'll have a miscarriage. Robin said maybe you don't even know what the actual gender is until years later. Howard said they blow up a forest for this kid and then years later you find out their gender isn't what you thought.
Howard said it seems like the guys don't want to be part of this as much as the women. He said the guys are the ones going out and getting fireworks and stuff to make it more exciting. He said he was never into that kind of stuff. He said he has friends who get fireworks for the Fourth of July. He said they're adults but they want to play with fireworks. He said they feel like they're in the FBI or something going out to get them from some secret guy. He said they're not even good fireworks. He said these guys love to tell you these stories because it's as close as they've ever been to being in the Mafia by going to this guy to get the fireworks.
Howard said this whole thing is bizarre to him. He said the guys really get into this stuff though. He said there was a family named the Grucci family that set off fireworks. He said these guys think that's who they are. Howard said he had 3 daughters and didn't throw parties. He said he was just happy. Robin asked why something has to explode. Howard said the explosion happened inside his pants.
Howard said some guy died making something for a gender reveal party. Robin said he was putting together the explosives. She said he was the dad and this thing explodes while he's working on it and it kills him before he gets to reveal the sex of the baby. Howard asked what this thing was that he was working on. Robin said it was some device and it blew up with the blue powder that came out of it. Robin said now the guy is dead and he'll never get to see his child grow up. Howard said how about have a blue or pink coffin. Robin said they can put him back in that thing and shoot the guy off.
Howard said it below up the garage, killed the guy and injured his brother. Howard said it's like an IED. He said the least interesting thing about you is that you're having children. He said anyone can have children. He said people in a coma have had children.
Howard said now the kid is an orphan. He said at least the mom is still around. Robin said now she has to raise the kid on her own. Howard said not everything is a milestone. He said crackheads can have kids. He said he should take a break. He said he hasn't been taking enough. Robins said they haven't talked about Tiger Woods. Howard said he'll get to that. Robin said he seems like such a sad person. She said he's had back problems and now he was in this accident and he has a broken leg that was broken at the top and bottom. Robin said that watching the videos of him as a child shows that he was tortured. She said he was on TV at 2 years old and he kept his head turned because he didn't want to be there. Howard said he sees it as tragic too. He went into a live commercial read and then talked more about Tiger. He said he thinks the guy has like a billion dollars. He said he should have a driver. Robin said she wouldn't let him near a car. Howard said if he had that kind of money he'd never look at a car again.
Howard did another live commercial read for NutriSystem and gave an update on Jason who is on it right now. Howard said Jason told him they gave him a tip. He said he likes this tip. He said when you have these cravings you can eat as much broccoli, cauliflower and mustard as you want to. He said Jason has lost like 19 pounds. Jason said that he's been on it about 5 weeks now and he did lose 19. He said he feels better physically too. He said he's very happy to be on it.
Howard asked if he's used to the reduction in food. Jason said he is. Howard asked if he can see his penis yet. Jason said not yet but he's working on that. He said maybe by 2022. He said it's getting there so it's on the horizon. Howard said he's grilling his broccoli too. Jason said he loves that. He said he's doing a lot of that. Howard said Jason has a person he can reach out to and get advice from a consultant. Jason said it wasn't a huge weight loss and they told him that it's not a straight scale down. He said they make you feel good about how things are going. He said they talk you off the ledge.
Howard said with losing weight it's weird. He said you think it's easy but then there comes a point when you're the same weight. Jason said this diet makes the most sense to him for how he thinks about food. He said he's not just throwing whatever tastes good on his plate. He said it's teaching him a lot about how to put a meal together. Howard went to break after finishing up the live commercial.

Howard came back and asked if it's true that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are worth $2.1 billion combined. Robin said that can't be. Howard said he was asking the guys about it and they think Kanye has more than Kim. Robin said he just did a bit endorsement deal with one of the big clothing companies. Howard said they poled the staff and they think Kim has more money. He said he's not sure why they're polling the staff. Robin said she has her own clothing thing going on too. She said she has a couple of businesses.
Howard read about what Kanye did that got him into trouble with Kim. There were a few things. Howard said he doesn't see anyone trying to take over his financial empire like they did with Britney Spears. Robin said they did that with Francis Farmer. Robin said they labotomized her. She said that Kennedy kid was institutionalized. Howard said she was a slow adult and she had sexual feelings so they took out a piece of her brain. He said she was probably just masturbating or something. He did his Kennedy impression and talked about how they can't have that going on in the Kennedy family. Howard said that girl died in 2005. Robin said that Wendy has sexual feelings too. Fred played Wendy saying ''Someone rape me for crying out loud!'' Howard did more of his Kennedy voice and had them talking about the family and how they can't have a slow adult having sexual feelings.
Howard said when he read about that part of the family history he read that her father never visited her at the home she was in. He said Rose Marie was very outgoing but they fixed her with that brain operation. Gary said what happened is that they threw her into the institution and they stuck something into her brain and took out the brain while she was reciting the lord's prayer and things like that until she wasn't able to say them. Then they knew they had taken out enough.
Howard said the way the girl got so slow is that they didn't have the doctor available so they tried to halt the birth and they kept the baby inside the birth canal for 2 hours so she had a loss of oxygen so she ended up being a slow adult. He said that's how they screwed up her life. Howard went into the Kennedy voice again and told mother to close her legs. He said when that baby came out it was like coming out of the Amazon jungle with so much hair down there.
Howard had Kennedy doing the ''Er-ah'' thing and said every Kennedy says that. Howard kept going with the impression for a few minutes telling stories about the Kennedy family. He said they were very upset with Rose Marie acting out sexually. He said they went to the doctor and they said they had to cut out the part of her brain that makes pussy juice. He said that he thought it was crude but he figured it would work.
Howard said father used Rose Marie's brain as a paper weight on his desk. He said thank god father never did that with his brain. He said he suggested just sewing her pussy shut instead of giving her a lobotomy. Ted said that father told him to shut up. Robin said it's odd that the father had a stroke and was barely able to speak. Howard had Ted saying they should have given him a lobotomy.
Howard had Ted talking about the buckets of drool they had to deal with. 'Ted' said that times were different and if they found out a slow adult was touching herself then the family may not be able to run for office. He said that's why they had Rose Marie's brain removed. 'Ted' said that he suggested sending her off to the circus but the family didn't want to do that. Howard said he can't believe Ted is having this conversation. He went back into the impression and talked more about Rose Marie and how she had so much drool they had to wear galoshes in the house. 'Ted' said that the Kennedy's love their women quiet and not drooling. He said if they don't agree with them then they drown you.
Robin said they could have just taken her sexual organs and left her brain alone. 'Ted' said she was touching herself and they can't have that as a Kennedy. He said imagine if she had acted out sexually. Robin said the guys all acted out sexually. 'Ted' told Robin to shush. He said they can't have it in their house.
Robin said what a life they had. 'Ted' said that his sister was so horny that she'd sit on everything in the house. He asked how you can have that and be a Kennedy. He said they said his brother John had a bad back condition and when Rose Marie was living with them he slipped on her drool and hurt his back. He said it was brutal. He said they could not be embarrassed by that girl. He said that butter knife did the trick. He said no more touching herself. Robin said they were assholes.
Howard said that was one of the biggest scandals that was completely brushed aside. He said she wasn't even that slow. Robin said it wasn't like she didn't function. Howard said that they could do that today and just claim ''fake news.'' Robin said today it's a badge of courage to have a kid with special needs.
Robin said she was thinking about that when he talked about Britney Spears. Howard said Britney has a conservator but not Charlie Sheen or Kanye West. He said it doesn't make sense. Howard said he wants to talk to Tom Morello so he has to take a break. He went to break a short time later.

Howard came back singing along with The Clash. He said he's very excited to have Tom Morello on the show today. He said he does a show on Lithium there on SiriusXM. He said he loves the show he does and he has turned him on to so much music. He said he loves when he gives facts about the songs that relate to his life. Tom said he appreciates him talking about the show from time to time.
Howard said he noticed that he has a picture of him with Bruce Springsteen up there in his office. He said he loves the performance he did at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said he thinks Bruce gets such a charge out of him. He said there's some type of energy there that he thinks Bruce wants him to be in his band. Tom said he played in his band for 6 years. Tom said hi to Robin and then said that he came to Bruce late but he went all in and then they became acquainted. He said that they did the cover of The Ghost of Tom Joad. He said they became friends and he did play in his band.
Howard said when Tom talks about being a fan of Bruce's he even gets his fanzine and things like that. Tom said yes he does. He said they are friends but he's also a friend he subscribes to a fanzine about. Howard asked if he has to control his enthusiasm around him. Tom said the first 20 times or so maybe but it's more comfortable now. He said they played that song for the first time in 2008. He said Bruce asked him to play in the E Street Band and he said he had to do it. He said they jammed on The Ghost of Tom Joad. He said that he went down to rehearse with the band and he was really nervous about it. He said he has never been more nervous about anything.
Howard asked what the nervous part is. He asked if he rehearsed. Tom said he over rehearsed. He said that he had rehearsed in a way that they weren't doing it. He said it wasn't going great when he got in there and did it. He said that he didn't know how to play it. He said Bruce saw him and put a hand on his shoulder and said ''Tommy...'' He said he looked him in his eye and said they were going to do it in this key and it was going to be great. He said that calmed his nerves a little bit. He said that he can sing the song and play a guitar solo. He said that they surprised him with the key so he had a surprise for them. He said during the rehearsal he didn't give anything away in the guitar solo. He said he walked on stage and played a version of the song that took them all by surprise. He said Bruce wanted him to keep going with the solo. He said the roof came off the place. He said that he told Bruce he was right about the key after all.
Howard said his solo is out of this world in that song. He said it comes out of left field and it's so fucking original. He said this solo was something. He played some of that solo. He said Bruce looked so happy to be up there with him. Tom said the audience didn't really know his work. He said that he played with them for 6 years after that and they played all over the world. He said that Bruce's commitment to excellence is complete. He said they see the same fans all over the world. He said that no one is more excited to be up there than Bruce is. He said you have no idea what the next song in the set is going to be.
Howard said he can't comprehend that kind of set list. He said he calls and audible on stage. Howard asked how that works. Tom said that's not in his wheelhouse. He said he doesn't have that kind of catalog that the band does. He said he had to learn 250 songs just to be prepared for whatever came. He said that wasn't enough. He said he'd take requests from the audience. He said they'd play songs that weren't Bruce's songs. Howard asked how you orchestrate that on stage. Tom said the craziest thing is that your ear takes over. He said he's played maybe 50,000 hours in his life and it just takes over. He said someone may suggest a song he heard on radio in the 80s. He said he had about 3 seconds to learn it. He said that he had to play it in a stadium somewhere in the world.
Tom said in the last run they did 34 shows and played 184 different songs. He said in one of the last concerts they had six songs that they had never played with the E Street Band. He said one of them was ''Jump'' by Van Halen.
Howard asked how the dynamic works. He said he knows that Bruce is the boss but they have so many guys playing guitar up there. He said it's like a traffic jam up there. He asked how it works for Tom when he's up there. He asked if he feels any resentment from the band. Tom said they're all lovely guys. He said they have people in the band who have been in there so long. He said they were so helpful to him learning songs. He said that he has never had aspirations to be in someone's side band. He said he'd only do that for Bruce. He said he couldn't contain himself when he was in the band. He said he'd suggest songs to play and Bruce seemed to like that.
Tom said they were in the city where Bon Scott was born and he went to his grave to visit because he's a big fan. He said he went back and asked Bruce if they could fit an AC/DC song into the concert. He said Bruce was up for it. He said they opened the show in Australia with an AC/DC song and Eddie Vedder singing on it. He said that was a pretty awesome moment.
Howard said that Tom could never say to Bruce that he wants to be in the band permanently. He said Nils Loftgren did that. He said he was willing to say screw my individual vision and just played with Bruce. Tom said he's a great guy. He said that he's there an hour or two before everyone else when they go to rehearse. He said he's prepared for anything that may come up.
Howard said years ago he played basketball against Nils. He said Nils kicked his ass. He said it was humiliating. Tom said that doesn't surprise him.
Howard said that when he looks back on Tom's career he sees that he went to Harvard and he wasn't a very good guitar player. He said when he was in Harvard he was practicing 8 hours a day to get better at guitar. Tom said he started at 17 and that was old. He said that Robert Johnson was one of those guys who started late. He said that the thing that was challenging was that he was going after an honors major. He said he wasn't ignoring his studies either. He said he had a calling to play rock and roll. He said he knew he had that and at the same time he was the standard bearer and he had to exceed there too. He said he was practicing 4-8 hours every day without fail. He said he'd get that 4 hours in every day no matter how he was feeling.
Howard asked if he had a teacher helping him. Tom said he had a lesson. He said that he would go to the guy to learn some things. He said that this guy he went to was out one day so he went to another guy who was playing like he had never seen before. He said that guy gave him a lesson that helped him out a lot. He said his name was Michael Angelo. He said that was his stage name. He said that gave him a template to practice every day. Tom said he wanted to be a guy who could make records. He said there was a psychological itch he was trying to scratch. He said he had a lot going on in his life. He said the only determining factor about his playing guitar was his will. He said he had a lot of will. Howard said he really did. He said that will is the thing.
Howard said he knows a guy who is very good at drawing a gun and shooting a target. He said he asked how you get so good and he told him that you go slow and slow is good and good is fast. He said the only way to get good is to start out slow. He said you can't start out fast.
Tom said he got advice in high school. He said that there are a lot of kids who are better than you. He said that he had a teacher who told him that you have to do an hour a day and do it every day. He said that he saw that it worked so he worked his way up to 2 hours a day. He said he was so determined that he just kept working at it. He said there's a difference between musicians and artists. He said he was unable to write music that he liked. He said he could play like the people he admired. He said when he was in Harvard he was dressed in full metal outfits. He said he was in Spandex and listening to metal music.
Howard said its crazy because he's at Harvard and doing that but he could be cashing in on that Harvard diploma. Tom said it was a calling. He said he had many interests but once he played guitar he knew that's what he had to do. He said he went all the way in. He said getting better incrementally was great too.
Howard said it's true of any artist. He said he learned from an artist who said that he was horrible at drawing when he was young. He said that he wanted to be a great artist and he drew every day and got better and better. He said he's the guy selling paintings now and those other kids don't even do it. He said you have to find your own style and your own way.
Tom said it takes a spark too. He said he grew up on Metal but there was something about it. He said he would listen to Punk music and that was as good as any band he'd heard and you could be in that band no matter what. Howard played some Sex Pistols ''Anarchy in the U.K.'' and said you can play that. Tom said that you hear a damp basement like he was living in.
Howard asked if Tom could live in a mansion now that he has some money. He asked if that would be going against who he is. Tom said that hasn't been a part of his life. He said that he has lived in the same house for like 25 years. He said he's very comfortable in his own skin. He said all of the bands he's been involved in have been successful but he's played as many concerts for charity as he has for money. He said there's a mission there and the band is one way to help with that. He said that he'd like to change the world to make it a decent place.
Tom said one day he went into high school drama club and he didn't know how to play a note on guitar. He said he announced he was starting a punk band. He said he starts this band with a group of guys and they're the worst. He said there's a band called Destiny and they were the most beautiful guys in the school. He said the girls go mad for them. He said then there's Epitaph who plays Sabbath and then there's his drama club band The Electric Sheep. He said Adam Jones from Tool was in the band with him. He said that the band Destiny is like a jukebox with their sound. He said meanwhile he and Adam can't tune their own guitars. He said they came out to do a concert for the school and the band starts playing the wrong notes and he has a poorly tuned guitar. He said he has a track and field background so when the chorus comes in he leaps off the riser he was on and the roof comes off the auditorium. He said it was like rock and roll is happening. He said he senses this and he starts rocking out and they destroyed Destiny's ass. He said he realized that's what he wanted to do that night. Howard said he realized how theatrical a band is. Tom said that's right and he was able to hang on to it.
Howard said he was interviewing Elton John recently and he said he has no musical instruments in his home. He said he figured he'd want to work on stuff at home but Elton said no. He said that he doesn't want anything near him. He said he doesn't see Tom that way. Tom said his son is a guitar player at 9 so he has guitars around. He said most of the playing he does is teaching his son stuff. He said that usually he would only have an acoustic guitar in his house. He said he's always written his heaviest riffs on acoustic guitars in his house.
Howard said he's picturing him being a father who wants to teach his son things on guitar and that's a very loving thing to do. He said he's not yelling and screaming at him. Tom said you have to let him come to it too. He said that he's 9 and they jam together. He said they trade off solos and stuff. He said he sees in him the thing he didn't have in him at 19. He said that he'll get on Zoom with his friends and play something. He said he smells blood in the water too.
Howard said that's such a loving picture to him. He said that brings up his upbringing in Libertyville. He said his mother was a missionary and his father wasn't around. He said his father was a bit of a revolutionary. He said his parents meet and fall in love and then they have him. He said his father leaves when he's like 2 and he moves to Kenya. He asked how a guy who has experienced that shitty situation where his father took no interest in him, how do you learn the skill to be a good father.
Tom said they say that no good art is made without a chip on your shoulder. He said his mom would write to his father about what he was doing and what he was up to and they wouldn't hear back. He said he wasn't really conscious of what was happening. He said he never had a second parent so he didn't know what he was missing. He said his mother is a force of nature and she covered all the bases. He said he has her on his show all the time. Howard said he has heard her. He said he hears that show and she'll talk about some interesting experiences she's had with Tom and all of that. He said it's very entertaining.
Howard said his mother was a good mother and father. Tom said he never felt he was lacking. He said there were challenges there. He said it was difficult for his mother to find a job. He said she taught all over the world but she had a hard time finding a job there in Libertyville because they were a mixed race family. He said that they told her she could teach there but they can't live there. He said they had to go around asking the families there in the neighborhood if it was okay for them to live there. He said that they had to make it like he was something special and not the usual American Negro. He said that works until you're old enough to date their daughters.
Howard said he grew up the one white kid in a black community. He said that you wonder why his mom made it so tough on him. Tom said she wanted him to have a good life. He said there were some great things about living there. He said he has life long friends that he met there. He said he had great teachers there. He said there would occasionally be a noose in his garage and he heard the N-word a lot.
Howard said Tom was the one half black guy in town. Tom said there is no half. He said they weren't thinking about the white half when they hung the noose in the garage.
Howard said there was a guy who told him to get in his truck. Tom said he was 15 and he was walking down the street and the guys told him to get in the car and swung a noose at him. He said they invited him to get in the trunk. He said years later he passed by that parking lot and there were people yelling out that they love him. He said he has a complicated relationship with that town. He said it's a big part of who he is now though.
Howard said he must have some great feelings about how they're still there in Libertyville and he has this great career. Tom said he still goes back to the town and it's more ethnically diverse than it was. He said at the night of Rage's fame he was put in handcuffs for walking down the sidewalk. He said that he was walking down the street to go home and the police pull up and he knows he just has to live through it. He said they wouldn't tell him then why they put cuffs on him. He said he asked if there was a curfew or did he commit a crime. He said he did later run into that cop in a civilian environment and asked about it. He said he's not bitter about any of that. Howard said he can't get past that stuff. He said he still gets angry about his childhood.
Howard asked if Tom ever went into therapy. Tom said not really. He said there was a tremendous amount of resolve and confidence that his family gave to him. He said he always had this sense of self worth. He said that he was like a unicorn in town. He said the kids there had never seen a black person. He said they'd touch your hair and look at your hands to see the color of your palms and things like that. He said through all of that he never felt lesser. He said he never questioned himself. He said he felt like he was as good as anyone else.
Howard said he became an introvert because of his childhood. He said Tom must have been a great student and his spirit wasn't dampened.
Tom said he has changed color over the years. He said that there was no one who doubted he was black as a child. He said that as he got older his skin color has changed and there are people who still freak the fuck out when he says he's black.
Howard said he's one of those guys. He said he read that he was black and he as surprised. He said he didn't know he was black. He said he thought he was a white Italian guy with that name Morello. Tom said a lot of that is based on stereotypes. Robin said even seeing you they don't think he's black. Robin said they don't even see it. Tom said there's a discomfort with it. He people identify with the music and then people are confronted with the truth and the have an issue with it.
Howard said he must identify with Barack Obama because they have similar backgrounds and grew up in Illinois. Tom said they were doing it at the same time too. He said the parallels are nuts. He said his jaw was on the floor when he heard him tell his life story. He said he was going to be president and he was the same kind of guy.
Howard asked Tom about getting into Harvard and how that happened. He said it fascinates him. He asked if he's ever had his IQ tested. Tom said he has not. He said he did alright on the SATs. Howard said he must have done exceptionally well. Tom said it wasn't an aspiration. He said he applied to Harvard, Yale and Northwestern. He said he didn't aspire to go. He said he would have been fine if he didn't go to any of those schools. He said he was going to do it at CLC if he had to. He said his mom was really pumped though. He said no one from his school had ever even applied.
Howard said the other thing that he marveled at is that he graduated Harvard and he gets out and he's a musician. He said he wasn't able to get a job. Tom said he moved to Hollywood and he wasn't able to get a job. He said he worked at the Renaissance Fair. Howard said he worked for a senator too. He said he realized that he didn't want to get into politics after that. Tom said he worked for Alan Cranston for 2 years. He said the job was asking rich guys for money and that was his job. He said he had to make sure he had enough rich guys on the phone to pay for that. He said the thing that really turned him off was when he got a call one day from a woman who was complaining about Mexicans moving into her neighborhood. He said she wanted the senator to do something about it. He said he called her a racist and hung up the phone. He said he got yelled at for two weeks after that. He said that he has been telling racists to go to hell ever since.
Howard said he had to have a day job to pay his bills. Tom said he wasn't able to get a job in a band. He said he'd try to get into a band and they'd ask how long his hair was. He said that he didn't have long hair so they didn't even want to jam with him.
Howard said Tom was working in this senator's office and not making a lot of money and not able to practice playing guitar. Tom said he was looking to get into a band and he was hanging up signs to find someone. He said he joined the first band that would have him. He said if you do things then things happen. He said the band was no good but the local band heard him playing through the walls and that led to him getting a job and a record deal.
Howard said that he remembers getting a job and his dad telling him to do what he had to do once he got into it.
Howard said Tom goes to Guitar Center and tries to get a job there. He said they turn him down. Tom said his resume was like juggling and fencing. He said every music store turned him down.
Tom said that his dad did come around eventually. Howard said he came round when he was 30. Tom said it was before that. He said that one of his half brothers discovered him and it went from there. He said one thing his father had never done was see him play. He said his brothers would show him pictures and he came around. He said his father didn't know what he did for a living not knowing that he could make a living doing that.
Howard said his father was out of his life and he achieve what people may never achieve. He said his father comes around and he finally speaks to him. He asked if he had the courage to ask his father if he was curious and if he cared. Tom said he met his father in Kenya and his father apologized to him and thanked his mother for raising him right. He said he asked for forgiveness. He said that he wanted him to see him play and he had never done that. He said they played with Bruce in Capetown so he got to see him there. He said his dad was a very formal guy because he's an ambassador for Kenya. He said he comes to see them play and they're sitting in the hotel bar after. Howard asked what he calls his dad. He said he calls him the name they use for grandfather. He said he doesn't call him dad.
Tom said that his dad comes into the hotel bar and Bruce goes over to him and asks what he thinks. Tom said he's looking down and his father said that it appeared that the audience had high expectations when they came in and they were met. He said that was the full review. Howard said that he seems to really have it together and has it in perspective. He said he might be better off not being raised by that guy.
Howard said he's fascinated by this time he spent as an exotic dancer. He said he remembers when Rage went on stage nude once and stood there for 15 minutes. He said they were protesting this PMRC censorship thing. He said that the fans didn't appreciate it. Tom said it was titillating for 5 minutes for the audience. He said they eventually started throwing quarters at their dicks. Howard said that he could never do that. He said that he has a tiny nub for a penis. Howard asked if they all have big penises. Tom said they were pretty deep into the interview before getting to that. He said sometimes you have to suffer for your art. He said they had a discussion about it and they were doing it in Philly because it was close to New York. He said they had all of the record company there at the concert too. He said they did that 15 minute thing and then the record company guys came and thanked them for that. He said if you hire Rage Against the Machine you get Rage Against the Machine. Tom said they did that for a very good reason and they were showing that you can't take hearing that kind of music lightly.
Howard asked about the exotic dancer thing. Tom said he and his roommate thought it would be nice to have a hot tub in their living room so they figured out how much it would cost to buy something like that. He said they worked toward that with this extracurricular activity. He said having a 3 and a half foot tall 10 foot diameter 101 degree roommate is not a good thing.
Howard asked if women were throwing stuff on stage for him. Tom said he was doing Bachelorette parties. He said he wasn't on stage. Robin said women get really touchy feely. Tom said it was weird and not awesome. He said they were just trying to make some money for that hot tub.
Howard said to get on Saturday Night Live as a band is great exposure. He said he thought it was weird that a band like that was on Saturday Night Live with Steve Forbes. He said he was the guy from a very conservative family. He said that they were outraged. Tom said they were just Rage Against the Machine. He said they had a fracas about what they had on the stage. He said 25 seconds before they played Bulls on Parade they had a thing with the flag up there. He said they didn't get to play the second song because they were outside on the sidewalk by that time. He said they haven't been asked to come back. He said they had told them not to do the flag thing in rehearsal.
Howard asked why Tom doesn't cut his strings. Tom said he thought it looked cool in his high school band. He said someone told him to cut them and he did it but they said he wasn't in the baddest band in town. He said he did it years later because he was in the baddest band in town.
Howard said he likes the way he wears his guitar way up high. He said that some guys play really down low to look cool. He said Tom is comfortable playing up high. Tom said it's the same height it is when he's sitting down. He said that way he can play the way he practices. He said it may not look cool but it works.
Howard asked if the type of guitar he plays really matters. Tom said he doesn't think so. He said that he wanted to have a custom made guitar when he was starting out. He said that he got one made after getting a check from the Senator's office. He said he went through so much equipment and he wasn't able to make things sound the way he wanted them to sound. He said then one day in 1988 or so he was twiddling knobs and trying to get it right. He said he was obsessing about it and he decided to never think about it again. He said then he just wanted to be creative. He said the amp is still there in the room with him. He said he marked the settings he had in 1988 and they're still set at the same settings. He said he no longer burdened himself with that stuff. He said he put all of his energy into imagination and creativity. He said he has 3 pedals that he's been using for 35 years. He said embracing those limitations has helped him creatively. He said he just worries about pushing the boundaries. He said that he found his voice on the instrument when he got into Rage. He said that he started practicing mistakes instead of the scales every day. He said he'd be playing along with a song and something would happen and it would feel incongruous and he'd play that 16 times in a row. He said he was learning sounds that weren't from the book of Chuck Berry or Eddie Van Halen. He said it was like low hanging fruit and he saw things through a different lens. He said he was making different sounds on his guitar and that's like a new language.
Howard said he considers him to be one of the best players in the world. He said he hears him about to make a mistake and he just brings it back in. He said he thinks he gets what he's saying about the sounds. He said he thinks Hendrix would embrace wrong notes too.
Howard said you see a guy like Eddie Van Halen building guitars and Tom rejected that. He said it was just a distraction for him. He said it was fucking him up. Tom said he already had 20,000 hours of playing and he embraced the weird sounds like helicopters and chicken noises.
Howard asked how he wrote his songs. Tom said songs are written in many different ways. He said the thing is chemistry that makes the band work. He said they were blessed in Rage to have that. He said that they had Tom and Brad as the rhythm section and Zack as the singer.
Howard asked Tom if knowing how hard it is to have a hit record and a band like that he sees that they break up. He said when he sees that he thinks you have to do everything in your power to keep it together. He said it's so rare to have a band like that. He said AC/DC finding a second singer is so rare. He said Van Halen finding 2 lead singers is rare. He said they had to negotiate that. Tom said they came back in 2011 and they were about to do their first show 10 yeas from that. He said that he treasures all of that. He said rock bands are rock bands. He said sometimes they have differences and they outweigh the moment. Howard asked if it was the money. Tom said they're not going to get into that because it's completely in the past.
Tom said he's not the spokesperson for Rage. He said that it has to be all four of them in the same room. He said that Howard is right. He said they should treasure it and they have. He said they have reunited and they will reunite again. He said the world needs bands that speak with authenticity. He said they need to connect with the audience. Howard said a band with core values maybe. Tom said yeah.
Howard said that he thinks Pete Townshend wishes he didn't need Roger Daltrey. Tom said he doesn't think he thinks that. He said that he has been in a band with Zack de a Rocha and with Chris Cornell and Bruce Springsteen. He said he has had a meaningful solo career too. He said those opportunities are there because fans come and go. He said he's made 20 records that he stands behind and each experience has been great. He said that he has attacked them all with all of his creative power.
Howard asked if he got upset when Rage broke up. Tom said they all went to Rick Rubin's house and hung out there listening to music there. He said Soundgarden was great with Chris because he was smart and poetic. He said that Chris also embraced riff rock. He said he and Rick Rubin went to talk to Chris. He said they went to this house that Chris was living in and he's driving an old Astro van and Rick only drives Rolls Royces. He said that they get to Chris' house and he lives in a spooky mansion. He said he and Rick pull up and the doors open up like Addams Family style. He said Chris comes out as this lanky 6'2'' tall guy and he lopes down the steps and Rick says ''Lets get the fuck outta here.'' He said it was kind of weird. He said Chris asked them to come in and have a cider. He said they did persevere. He said they did have the Audioslave records and he never stopped being a fan of his. He said that Chris had great lyrics and he would effortlessly create something great. Howard played some ''Like a Stone'' from Audioslave. Hard said that had to be a lot of pressure. Tom said it looked good on paper. Howard asked if he had to adjust as a guitar player. Tom said he did. He said he had to play with a melodic singer. He said it challenged the band. He said to let Chris shine they had to have this melodic counterpoint.
Howard said he's had an amazing career. He asked if he's singing the backup vocals on the Bruce song. Tom said he was singing the lead. He said Bruce was also singing them.
Howard said he really likes his radio show. He said that he was talking about Bob Dylan and he was talking about why he likes him. He said he heard that and he had never been a big fan of his. He said he gets it now that he explained it from a musicians's point of view. He said that's why he likes his show so much. Tom said he has a lot more shows coming. Howard said that the reason he's there is to plug his show. Howard asked who he thinks are the best guitar players out there. Tom said he'd put Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhodes up there. He said that his son is named after Randy. He said that he got the opportunity to pay with Ozzy once. He said that he is a huge Randy Rhodes fan and he got to play with Slash and Ozzy. He said that they were all doing their thing and they're going to play ''Paranoid'' at the end. He said Ozzy ends up doing a song the crew said he never does. He said this crew member is telling them to go out there because they need to play ''Mama I'm Coming Home.'' Tom said there's a crew member waving and yelling at them because they were sitting on the pyro and Ozzy was about to blow them up.
Howard asked Tom about Slash and how great he is. Tom said he really is great. He said he plays on a song on his new album.
Howard said his head is swimming thinking about him getting blown up at an Ozzy concert. He said that would be real rock and roll. He said that would have been awesome.
Howard said he wanted to talk to him about Alice Cooper too. He said he needs to talk to him about so much. He said he wanted to talk about the rock and roll hall of fame. He said that he's so proud that he's part of this SiriusXM thing. He said that he has to talk about the hall of fame. Howard said Tom is one of the guys who selects who will be in the hall of fame. Tom said he is on the committee. Howard said he wasn't sure he'd even be into the hall of fame. Tom said that they used to ignore the heavy metal bands and there were a lot of bands that he was into that weren't in there. He said that one of the guys who runs the hall of fame is John Landau who is Bruce's manager. He said he told John that he had to fix the hall of fame. He said if bands like his doesn't want to be in it then there's a problem there. He said that John put him on the committee and he told everyone what he was thinking. He told Howard how the pick the bands. He said it's all subjective. He said they have guys like Dave Grohl, Steve Van Zandt and guys like that in there.
Tom said that he thinks about who he wants to put in there and they're the pillars of rock. He said he wanted it to really matter. He said they only put in 5 bands a year so it's tough. Tom said he makes a presentation every year about who he wants in there and the first one he did was KISS. He said there are so many links to KISS in the rock community. He said that's the band that made him love rock and roll.
Howard asked if you can separate yourself from the music and the politics. He said that Ted Nugent is one he's thinking about. He asked if he wouldn't want him in there. Tom said he and Ted are good friends actually. He said you could make an argument for him to be in. Howard asked if he can be friends with him based on guitar. Tom said for Ted's 60th birthday someone reached out to him and asked him to make a video for him. He said at the time Ted was known as this right wing caricature. He said he wasn't known as the guy who shredded on these albums. He said that he was wondering what video he could make for Ted. He said he made it about two things. He said it was the things they have in common and that included free speech and things like that. He said the second thing was the things that Ted taught a young Tom about sex. He said Ted called him after that and they became friends. He said they do have differences though.
Howard asked about the rock and roll hall of fame and how the whole thing goes when they're picking bands. Tom said they take it very seriously. Howard said that this went the way he thought it would. He said that he's a great educator of rock and roll. He said he learns a lot from Tom. He said that he imagines that he has played with people they don't even know about. He said yesterday they were talking about people who have played on things they don't know about. He asked Tom if he's done that. Tom ran down a list of bands that he has played with. The list was long. Howard said he has to ask about Johnny Cash. He asked if that's because Rick Rubin worked with him. Tom said it is. He said he heard them mixing a Johnny Cash record at Rick's house and he got to play with him on ''Redemption.'' Howard asked how they pay him for that. Tom said that he doesn't think Rick pays him for shit. Howard said he was at Rick's house once and his dogs shit on the floor as soon as he got there.
Howard said he knew he'd love talking to Tom after hearing his radio show. He said he puts so much work into that guitar. He said it's an inspiration. He said he's something else.
Howard said Tom has an impressive list of things coming up. He said he has this One Man Revolution show on Lithium and he has 3 streaming channels and a podcast on SiriusXM.
Howard asked Tom if he listens to the music or do they just play it. Tom said he curates it all but he just records the drops between the songs. He said he and his mom sit in the kitchen and do that. Howard said he would love to hear him just playing the music and riffing on it. He said he wouldn't mind if he interrupted a song and said ''Did you hear that?''

Tom said he's been locked down and taking care of his 97 year old mother and 9 and 11 year old kids so this is great that he can do that. Howard said he's very busy with all of that. He said he may have to give up music to keep it all going.
Howard said Tom has a show called Tom Morello's Maximum Fire Power. Tom said on that one he sits down and talks with people from different bands. He mentioned Perry Farrell so Howard heard that and said that's got to be good. He said Perry is a phenomenon. He asked if he's ever sat down to write a song with him. Tom said he would love that. He said that they belong in the rock and roll hall of fame. He said he'd love to rock with him. Howard said Perry is so out there. He asked if you can be in a meeting with him. Tom said he's an artist and that's what's great. He said his show with him is about living his life as an artist. Howard said he can't wait to hear that one.
Howard asked who the first person was. Tom said it was Serj Tankian. Howard said that has to be a good one too. Tom told Howard about how he went to an Ozzfest show and there were a lot of white power tattoos on people. He said each band had a non white person in it so he called Serj and told him they should create something to show that anti-racism is good. He said they formed Axis of Justice after that. He said they had some horrible edict in Santa Monica where they banned people from giving food to homeless people. He said the first thing he and Serj did was go out and bring as much food as they could hand out there. He said from that day forward they have been brothers in arms. Howard said he can see that being a great conversation. Tom said he'd hate to inflict his music on the audience. He said that he likes to go out and DJ at clubs so he can play whatever he wants. He said it's the other side of him that lets him let go and enjoy music fully. He said that's what all of these shows are. He said the talk stuff is like a night out at the Rainbow bar and grill. Howard said he loves it.
Howard asked Tom what the best riffs are out there. Tom said the top 10 are clogged with Jimmy Page riffs. Howard said he's thinking Queen ''keep Yourself Alive'' is one too. Tom agreed. Howard said he thinks he may have too much Tom Morello in his life. He said he knows what time his show comes on Lithium and he has to listen while he works out. Howard said it's like the old days when he could play whatever he wanted on radio. He said he only worked at one station like that. Tom said part of it is like playing stuff for friends in his living room. He said he has things he can play that isn't out there and he can play whatever he wants and there are no rules for it.
