He said that they got him on the web site version but not the magazine.
Gary wondered if Eric knows that he had that love out there. Jon said he thinks he knows he was famous but maybe not that loved thing. Gary wondered what Eric thought of Zac Efron calling him out to do the ALS ice bucket challenge. JD said he thinks that he liked that. He said he thinks that Eric saw more people bothering him than liking him. Gary said he still wonders if he felt the love he got from so many people. Jon said he's not sure. Jon asked Gary about this thing they call the Clarion of Death. Gary said everyone has a friend who wants to be the first one to let people know. He said people want to be the first one with bad news. Gary said that they want to be known for that. Jon asked Gary if he has that role when a guest is in because David Spade calls him Baba Badnews. Gary said he's not bringing fresh bad news, he's recycling that.
Gary asked who they think brought that news for Eric. He said Shuli was one who was there bringing the news about Eric. He said Wolfie may have been the one.
Jon said that Shuli mentioned some of the things that Eric did on the show and they played some clips. He said when Eric took a break from the show they knew he was coming back. Not this time though. He said he thinks that he'll be looked at as one of the most popular they ever had. Gary said time will tell if he gets a bigger send off than Hank did. He said they have pictures on the web site today and he thinks that Eric would have been thrilled with that.
Jon had Jon Leiberman give his Howard 100 News headlines after that. Leiberman ran down a bunch of headlines and then the guys got in some plugs and ended the show. They were done around 11:20am.

He said that it wasn't really about him. He said it was about the times they were in. He said that he wrote a song called ''Country Gentleman'' about Ronald Reagan. He said that he read a review about that album and the guy didn't know why he wrote a song about the guy when he wasn't President anymore. He said his polices were just starting to kick in. John said things were deregulated and they all fell apart. He said sometimes you do need these things in place. John said calling it progress doesn't make it right.
Howard asked John if he remembers ''Crumblin' Down.'' John played some of that for him. He said that was a political song.
Howard said that was a good one. John said no one took it as a political song at all. He said it was all pop and radio driven at the time that they didn't know what it was about. John said it's that and sedatives. Howard asked what he takes. John said he takes Xanax once in a while.
Howard asked if he has anxiety making albums. John said he was making one a few years ago and they were in a studio spending a long time on it. He said it was awful so he started over again. Howard asked about the song ''Jack & Diane'' and he wanted to make it about an interracial couple. John said he did but they wanted him to have a big hit song. He said the record company ended up hating the song. Howard asked how it became a hit. John said that there were some people working there at the studio who helped him out. Howard asked him to play some of ''Jack & Diane.'' John played a little bit of that for him.
Howard said that he loves that he didn't know that was a hit song. He said that's so great. Howard said the same with ''R.O.C.K. in the USA.'' He said he can't remember anything so he has to sing it into a tape machine.
Howard said he brought up ''R.O.C.K. in the USA'' because he didn't think it was a hit. He said John didn't want to do a song like that. He said if you're not hurting anyone then just go. John said he doesn't want to be a part of that or be identified with it. John said what makes him angry is the way the record company dealt with the internet. He said when radio first started there were radio stations playing music and selling advertising. He said the record companies figured out a way to get paid for what they were using. He said that's the same with juke boxes and all of that. He said the internet is a delivery system just like that. Howard asked if she stays at John's place. She said she does stay on one of his properties. She said she has great taste.
Howard asked if they have rehearsed this song before. John said they have. He said Andy is playing because sometimes he gets in his way. They went right into the song after that.
After the song Howard said that was nice. He said even with her spaghetti brain Miriam plays great. John said he tried to write that song in 1991 but he wasn't able to get the song to work. He said this version works though.
