The following story was submitted by a fan of The Howard Stern Show who wanted to share their ''Brush with Greatness'' with others. Submitted by: Earl - 12/17/00 The story... This weekend I went to Stuttering John's appearance at Mars Music inside a shopping center in Orange, CA (30 miles south of LA). This is a fairly large music store and they set up a small stage in the middle. John was playing the guitar and he would invite any musician to come up and jam with him. They had several guitars plus keyboard, drums, congas, a second singer (other than John) and various tambourines etc. John was very entertaining. He would play 60's rock (as all the other musicians seemed to know these tunes) and would sometimes make up his own lyrics (as Ta Ta Toothy to the song Louie Louie). He also had a girl on stage he called the Queen of all C's (unts). She didn't do much but smile and wiggle. John would answer anyone's question. He did say that he was hoping that Howard wouldn't sign again with CBS because he knew he would sign with someone else and perhaps John could get more money. John was quite friendly with everyone and had absolutely no ego at all. After a couple hours of playing, he sat down and signed autographs for everyone. There was a long line for that. I have attached a copy of the picture (with personalized autograph for me) that he was giving out. I also got a "Howard Rules" drink holder. I have to say that before this appearance, he was my least favorite of Howard's "wack pack". Now he is a favorite. He was GREAT!
