Top Selections To Make World Premiere at Red Carpet Gala in New York City; $25,000 in Cash To Be Awarded
New York, NY (February 22, 2006) - Howard Stern, the man who revolutionized radio and is liberating television with his Howard TV On Demand service, is celebrating his newfound freedom with what will be deemed The Mother of All Film Festivals where everything goes: The Howard Stern Film Festival. Forget Sundance and Cannes, The Howard Stern Film Festival is destined to become the most talked about film festival of 2006. And, he’s inviting his fans to join in.
As the anti-thesis of any film festival to have preceded it, The Howard Stern Film Festival will set the standard on low brow, high-quality entertainment. Culminating on April 27th in Manhattan at a star-studded red carpet award show, one filmmaker will be anointed the next great American filmmaker by Howard and his distinguished judges. He will be catapulted into stardom on April 28th when legions of Howard’s loyal fans will be able to view this and other outrageous selections from the Festival on Howard TV On Demand.
“With THE HOWARD STERN FILM FESTIVAL, Howard once again takes a stance by speaking out against the rigid structure of institutions – in this case traditional Hollywood,” said Robert D. Jacobson, President and CEO of iN DEMAND Networks. “This is all part of his commitment to democratize entertainment. We couldn’t be happier than to partner with Howard and give the next generation of weird, but brilliant filmmakers a festival they can call their own.”
For the throngs of Stern fans ready to tap their inner filmmaker and create five-minute short films that reflect “All Things Howard,” iN DEMAND Networks will immediately begin to accept submissions. Submissions for the HOWARD STERN FILM FESTIVAL are due by April 11th. Entries should be no more than five minutes in length and should demonstrate creative film interpretations of “Howard Stern” related storylines. Festival winners will be awarded an aggregate of $25,000 in cash. Finalists and other notable projects will run EXCLUSIVELY on the Howard TV On Demand following the event.
The top three films will be awarded prizes as follows:
1st Place ($15,000)
2nd Place ($7,500)
3rd Place ($2,500)
All entries should be submitted as either DVD or high-quality VHS and include a signed entry form. The official HOWARD STERN FILM FESTIVAL entry form and a complete list of festival rules are available at www.howard.tv.
